How can a game with a bad camera and controls be so good (according to you guys)? Is it enough that it's so pretty to suffer through all the badness?

I can only speak based on my own experiences with the game Rick, but I never had much of a problem with the camera system. It's not perfect, but it rarely got in my way when I was battling the Colossi.

If anything the bow never seemed quick enough when I tried to swing it 'round during certain battles.

I just found #5. What an entrance!! I'm a little bit dissapointed though. I don't know, I was expecting more finesse with the rendering. You can see chunks of backgrounds popping up as you travel... :? At times it feels like I'm playing a PS1 game. :|

Yeah the difficulty of the game comes, i think, mainly from the camera and controls.
Although, when you think about it, no, you cant aim with a bow and ride your horse towards a certain direction at the same time......(like with the 13th)
You have to let go of the reins to shoot.
And here you have to adjust the way you hold the pad to do those things, which, again, make sense somehow.
But it's just plain annoying when the horse stumbles upon a rock which you couldn't see
in the middle of a chase or a battle...
You have only secondary control over the camera, which is "pre-set" during battles,
which makes it tedious to compensate as you're fighting, in order to see what's around you.
That 11th Colossus is a fast feline type, who attacks swiftly.
You can use the "lock on Colossus" camera, but as it is set on him, you keep running into walls as you can't see what surrounds you because your sight is onto that beast in the back....Which i guess makes total sense too!....Of course, when you run and don't look in front of you, you may bump into something.

The thing is, for me, that the difficulty of the Colossi comes from the
mediocre gameplay, rather than from the subjects themselves most of the times.
It is very frustrating to see such an amazingly beautiful and wide game ( with glitches, yes denis) having this kind of problems.

Still, i looove that game, don't get me wrong.
But i wonder if i'll fight some of those guys again, which you can do, if you go back to their spot and pray upon their bodies.

Or maybe i just suck ass and should stick to much simpler games...

There must be a "hard" mode of the game somewhere. :?:

Yes, there is, Denis, once you finish the game.
I've heard rumours of exploding arrows too/

:D " is " or " was ", denis?

Remind me which one it is and i 'll help.

This is the 'help" thread, after all.

I've spent the evening just riding along just looking at trees...

SPOILER: if you look up at the big trees with moss on, you'll find fruits.
They are not always of the same design.
Shot an arrow at it and pick it up ( 0 buton) to expend your life bar.
Mine is now 3/4 of my screen.... That's a lot of fruits.....

Rudolphe, have you beaten the game yet?

**Spoiler**

You can also climb the tower that you reappear in after each Colossus you kill. The trick of it is, you have to beat the game at least 4 times on hard to have enough grip strength to make it all the way to the top.

You can also kill those little white tailed lizards you find at save shrines. If they have a white tail, attack them, then eat the tail. It increases your strength.

:? I'm still at the 14th. I'm looking for that tower that the gods talk about.....
I gave up last night.

As for the Lezards, shoot at the tail only!
The little guy will struggle and dettach itself from it, but will not die.
So that it will regenerate one in the future i guess.

Hey Rudolphe, if you'd like, here are some hints for getting started on #14.

**HINTS**

The enviornent plays a HUGE part in beating this Colossus. Look around you. Be very aware of your surroundings and what you can get on top of.

Hope that helps without revealing too much.

**End of HINTS**

#14 was tough. I think I stopped playing after I beat that one. It was hectic. But there's something exhilirating and frightening about facing off against a quick Colossus.
