First post - Some finished and unfinished drawings of mine

Hi there!

Let me at first excuse my sometimes a little worse english.

I already registered to this forum a long time ago, because i was fascinated by the amazing drawings of the forum members - but i never had time to upload some of my drawings.

So.....here is some of my work - it's not as professional as the work of many other forum members but i hope you like it or at least give me some hints on how to improve my drawing style.

All drawings were made with pencils on DIN A4 sized paper (printer paper)

First I have to say that your drawings are really good. Though i do have a few technical pointers that may make your work a lot better. First off try purchasing some good quality paper. Like bristol. They come in cold press (rough) and hot press (smooth). For your stuff I would go with the cold press because I like the grain in your work. Second give that you are using printer paper Im going to assume that you are using a standard pencil. Personally I use a lead holder, its not as fine as a technical pencil but not a cheap feeling as wood. I would look into 2 kinds of lead. A soft 4B and maybe H (medium grade type). That and ebony is really nice too. Basically what I see is that your stuff is very gray and I would like to see a wider spectrum of tone. There should be points in your drawing that are absolute white and others that broach on absolute dark. how you push those values is up to your creative decisions.

You basically said what i was thinking about for a long time now.
The drawings look nice but to colorless. I've already tried to get a deeper spectrum into my drawings - lets say i'm still trying to.

The first two drawings of the topic are one and two weeks old - the other ones are three years old (and they were a lot more grey i think).

I'm using standard pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B) and a technical pencil but got a cretacolor lead holder and coal and graphite leads two weeks ago (a present from my girlfriend). The only problem is i'm not really familiar with it yet.
