New Guy on the Board....

Just a drawing of a teddy I have... Not the kind of stuff I usually draw, but I gotta do it for a school portfolio, so I sat down for a bit and did it.

Did I bite off more than I can chew?

It is an ambitious set up you got going there with all the angles. You did well getting the perspective to work. I think I would put in a few dark darks and maybe some more midtones. Just try to expand the value range you've got going. I think that would really impress the people who are looking at your portfolio. Because right now, I can tell you've spent a lot of time figuring out where the shadows are but it's difficult to see the direction of light because some of them are so light. Now this is not to say to darken every shadow a ton, but maybe take a look at some of the areas in your setup that are darker in your setup than represented on your paper and adjust accordingly. I think just a tiny bit more work would help this be an excellent portfolio piece, because it's a good start :)

Thanks, ToffeeCoffee.

Good call on the shadows/midtones. I noticed one shadow was too light right after I posted, but I hadn't seen how pervasive the lightness was.

Good tips!

You should post it when you touch it up! I'd really like to see how it turns out.

Okay, finally getting back to posting this...

After cooling my eyes off for a couple days on other things, I'm seeing even more areas I could darken or alter in some way, but let me know what you think.
