Postby JeffColeman » Wed Jun 22, 2005 11:10 pm

Are there any regular Life Drawing classes in New York for an affordable price?

I think the most reasonable life drawing classes I've come across are hosted by the Art Students League of New York, near Columbus Circle. If you've got the time, your best bet to get more info is check out their site, or swing by and pick up a catalog. I know of a few others, but their daily class option seemed great for me during the summer break since I'd be able to get around 60hrs of drawing instruction in per month.

There are more options that the one I gave above, but it helps to know exactly what you're aiming for. You want classes, or just groups that get together and sketch/draw, and whatnot.

There is also life drawing sessions at the Spring Street Studio. They're not instructional, but they run everyday all day with a variety of pose lengths. TickyHidalgo (board guy) goes often. I met up with him a few times. I'll see if he can post any more info. I'd love to meet you there but i'm moving to LA.

Also, if you join ASIFA east, there are FREE life drawing sessions at night at SVA once a week during the school year. Some very talented people hang out there. But again, it's not really an instructional class.

I remember some folks on CA.org talking about it, but I never felt motivated to follow through, but I'd like to share that info with others. Any chance you've got links or some addresses?

Hey Phil,

It's Bobby, Mike Mattesi's friend in Jersey. Good luck in LA, I'm trying my hardest to get there myself... so maybe one day we'll be neighbors... Just don't take all the good jobs... leave some cool work for me when I get there :)

Say hi to Mike and the family!
