help with flash

Postby jameselston » Wed Mar 09, 2005 11:43 am

I did a little Flash animation-

http://www.thejimbopage.com/spaceboy.html

I'm trying to make it so that it stops at the end, and you can click the "replay" button for it to repeat.

but for some reason, it just keeps looping.
I've been messing with the actionscript, trying to put the 'stop' command or 'stop all sounds' in the right place, but I haven't gotten it to do what I want.

I'm all confused.
Can anyone help?

This is just an animation exercise, for my own purposes(I'm just trying to learn flash).
If you want to look at the .fla file, it can be found at:

thanks,
j.

I assume that the spaceboy is a movie clip that is continuing to loop. If you want that to stop you're going to have to put a stop at the end of the movie clip.

Im just guessing since I couldnt open your .fla, was it created in MX2004? I just have a copy of MX. Compatibility issues.

Otherwise. I can look at it later at home if no-one gives you an answer today.

I have Flash MX.
another question:

I tested this animation on a few different browsers (safari, ie, netscape) and it played back different on safari than the other 2.

when you look at the animation, is it out of sync?

Thanks Newsquirt, I put a stop at the end of the movie clip, and I got the animation to stop, but my new problem is that when I click the restart button, the sound begins again, and the character begins at the beginning again, but the head animation doesn't restart.

The way it is structured is that the head (with lip sync and slight head-rocking) is one movie clip inside another movie clip (the body).

the button is on the main stage level.

any more suggestions?

thanks for you help.
