jody* i think you are falling into the trap of ' not drawing the forrest but the trees' . you need to take a step back and breakdown the forms before you get to the meat/detail.

a good way to start sketching a figure is to break it down to the absolute minimums.

1): the flow lines ( gold): the absolute basic lines on how a figure is positioned.

2): skeleton ( red ): not so much 'grey's anatomy' but a basic blueprint of the major transisioins in a figure.

3): basic shapes ( black ):
just the abstract simple forms that make up a figure.

do this first then go in for the damage........

ps* .......in a really bizzarre way your rendering looks like the love child of iggy pop and lux interiors ( but, in my book....that's a good thing! ).

Hey, as long as it does not look like it is half way beterrn the pilsbury dough boy and a stick figure I consider it a compliment!

Iggy Pop I know, now I just have to go look up Lux Interiors.

Thanbk you for the other tips btw. They have been very helpful. I gave them a try earlier in another drawing and I was very pleased with the results.

Hope there's not some law against posting late or anything...

My first drawing jam submission, so be gentle :D. Some problem with anatomy there, but I'm still trying to improve myself. Anyway, done with the Scratchboard tool on Painter.
