Reacting to Events.

Gosh, it seems utterly stupid to have done this... comics about/ in reaction to a tragedy of this scope...? Anyway, it's something I wanted to sort of get off my chest, and possibly/ hopefully inspire at least one person who hasn't contributed yet in some positive manner.

It's kind of a complex message in such a short space. Hopefully, it won't be misinterpreted... my brother's in India with his family. They went for Christmas to visit a relative. I hear they're OK.

Anyway... the comic:

I also posted it on my livejournal along with a long list of aid organizations.

Good job, Stuart. It is not stupid at all, I think it's beautiful and moving. Thanks for sharing, and glad to hear your family's OK.

Thank you all... my concerns are mostly about being percieved as overly sentimental, which is not my intention. I wanted to compress a lot into a small space-- glad you liked it enough to comment.

Very good and emotive. The tear/wave is a fantastic idea.
Good work.

Stunning. Truly. I applaud it. My only crit is that is was a bit difficult to understand what he is seeing. However, after a few seconds it was clear. Much better than anything I could have done and up to your usual quality standard.

You're right, I had a hard time making out the tidal wave too, the lines aren't too defined. Suggest making a bit more clearer what it is, because we know about the news now we can tell what it is, but later on it won't be as clear.

How does one ever tackle a subject like this without it potentially seaming too sentimental or or even stupid? This is neither and coveys the feeling it's meant to in a very small space. Yup. Now I'm sad.
