HB1 Mos Def eh?

are you familiar with the hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy?

this has upset quite a few HHGTTG fans in the UK.

Mos Def is to play Ford Prefect.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0371724/

No where in the books does it mention FP's colour, but everytjhing he says is very English, despite being from Betlejuice.

So I think some HipHop Brooklynite would be pooorly suited.

Ahat next?

Will Smith is SHERLOCK HOLMES

Never know....maybe the mighty Mos can pull off an English accent. Or if the cast is mostly English, then maybe he's the token American (you know, so us Yanks can feel like we're a part of it). :)

Actually, there are quite a few Americans on the cast now that I'm looking at the imdb listing. And they're all good actors (Malkovich, Deschanel, Rockwell..).

Plus, Willow's in it! :)

Acting-wise, Mos Def has the chops.

I won't be leaving the house for a concert until Michel Graves is re-hired as the lead singer for the Misfits. Well not really. I may go see Modest Mouse. Ya won't get me to see the White Stripes until they get a full friggin' band on stage regardless of how "full" they sound! I gotta get my hands on that Jack White-produced Lorretta Lynn CD though.

And speaking of Mos Def, first time I saw him act was in Spike Lee's brilliant "Bamboozled". As far as I'm concerned he stole the movie. From that point forward he's never failed to impress me with his thesbian chops. He's really good. That's so righteous he's cast in Hitch Hiker's Guide.

Good Shows Real Soon!

Postby Uloo » Tue Jul 06, 2004 11:06 pm

Just got home from seeing Martha Wainwright at wunna the local venues. Boy, can she sing. Great songwriter, too. Would one classify her as a "singer-songwriter"? I never know when to apply that label. Anyhow, I wish her much success in her solo endeavors.

For those who might be interested, Martha'll be in the Bay and LA during the next few days.
