I saw Donovan Frankenreitter play down in San Juan Capistrano this past week and there were sooooo many cute surfer girls there, oh my God. Donovan F. is going to be touring with Jack Johnson this summer and G Love & the Special Sauce.

I've mostly been trying to get out on Tuesdays to see cool local shows cause I've been working on the weekends but right now I'm all about music for that hour and a half long commute everyday. If you're down Drugs let's find out when Gwar is playing because that sounds like one hell of a time.

Saw a great LA band called SUGAR PLASTIC at Spaceland last Friday...very infectious indy rock with little bits of pop and dancy beats

TONIGHT: the Plea for Peace tour at the troubadour featuring
CURSIVE - wonderful conceptual art rock screamo
PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS - grungy emo-tinged noise rock - fucking awesome
SAUL WILLIAMS - a poet doing spooken - I've heard good things
MIKE PARK - former lead singer for The Chinkees, nice folky man and his guitar

JUNE 14 -

a night of metal at The Whisky: DEMONHUNTER & HASTE THE DAY

Muse!!! Man, I dig that band....
Their latest record is bloody brilliant.

Why can't they come to Florida, huh?
Just because it is a state full of country music luvin freaks?
We have a House of Blues! We have a Hard Rock Live!

It is tough to snag a good show here... although I think Kenny Loggins and Dokken are here in the same week.

I am going to go pout some more...

10th Annual Hootenanny with the Cramps, Reverend Horton Heat and the Supersuckers at Oak Canyon Ranch in Orange County July 3.

Also, I saw a great up and coming band from Oakland called the Phenomenauts. If you like rockabilly with a touch of DEVO, this band is for you. They're going to be playing the Warped Tour this summer.

Haha, my brother lives with a few of the Phenomenauts. Great band indeed.

Recently I saw Broken Social Scene, and TV on the Radio as mentioned. I must be getting old or something since I didn't really enjoy myself at either of them,, even though they both put on great shows. I guess the whole process of going to see bands is becoming a little routine.

Demon Hunter ruled...man, what a great show. It seems like every time I'm starting to get burnt out on the live shows I see a band for the first time and totally get my ass kicked. What a wonderful experiance.

I just bought a ticket to see PAPA ROACH aug 4 at the Roxy...they are a guilty pleasure of mine...lookin very forward to finally seein a headlining gig by them

Gonna try and hit the 08/02 Bad Religion show in Charlotte. It's a short drive for me, so it shouldn't be too unfeasible to do on a work-night.

Bad Religion always puts on a fantastic show, though Greg has to take a lot of water breaks now that he's gettin old and pudgy. The new album is decent, nothing greoundbreaking or extremely striking, but it sounds good. Of the last couple, New America is probably the best, even with Brett on only one song. I wish they'd play more Grey Race stuff live, that's a fantastic album, probably because Greg was really pissed off and it was the first album that he wrote completely by himself, every sinlge instrument.

Last night I got my tickets to see SKINNY PUPPY and TWEAKER july 3 at the Henry Fonda. I really hope this show rules. I was shocked to hera that Cevin and Ogre got back together, it's going to be interesting to see what material they choose to pull from, this being their first tour together in like ten years, and both guys having a pretty healhy supply of solo material themselves. I'm afraid that Tweaker is just gonna be a dude sitting behind a computer, but I hope I'm surprised and he brings along some of his guest vocalists for the show.

Oh, I almost forgot - thjere's a great free show at the Troubadour on Monday night featuring STRIFE - balls out blistering hardcore. I have no idea why they're playing for free, but I'm not going to complain. My friend's brother used to play drums for them and the band he's currently with is going to be co-headlining. I'm lookin forward to moshin it up
