Comic artists drawing stuff they never did before

Postby Donster » Sat Jun 14, 2003 5:50 pm

I posted this kind of stuff on DC's boards before and also have a similar themed thread in the animation section. If you can have artists draw characters they never really drew before, who would you like to see drawn by who...whom? You can mix and match retired/dead artists with modern characters, or have movie/tv show based properties adapted to comics by artists, etc.

Here are some of my dream drawn comics to get the thread started...
-PLASTIC MAN by Will Eisner
-HAWKMAN by John Buscema
-SPACE GHOST and or THE HERCULOIDS by Moebius
-THE SHADOW by Alex Toth
-DOC SAVAGE by Alex Ross
-ARCHIE by Evan Dorkin
-ANGEL AND THE APE by Ty Templeton, Dan DeCarlo, Harvey Kurtzman, Mitch O'Connell, Scott Shaw!, Adam Hughes, Dave Stevens, Hilary Barta, Darwyn Cooke, R.C. Harvey, Bill Wray, Stephen DeStefano, Stephanie Gladden, Pat McEown, Jaime Hernandez, Bruce Timm, Frank Frazetta, and more!

Take it away!

Interesting list.. I just wanted to point out that Toth HAS drawn 'The Shadow' a few times.. I don't remember him doing any story work.. But I know I've seen some Toth 'Shadow' images, before!

-- Rich

Actually, Dan Clowes did the original cover to the Bizarro Anthology that DC did a couple years ago, and it was awesome. But they rejected it, apparently, in favor of the Groening cover.

-Dan

Anyone have that Clowes Bizarro cover? Never did see it and I'd love to. Either way, shoulda used it instead of the Bill Morrison...oops! I mean, Matt Groening cover (like Groening's drawn anything in the last 12 years).

R.
