I'm all over this. Since the regular fans of Witchblade probably will not be. "What the hell? Where'd all the cross-hatching and screwy proportions go? Where's all the over-the-top Photoshop crap? Screw this."

R.

I agree with Lambey's comments. I was waiting for some book like this to happen too since the Animated Toys are being released

Oh almost forgot Darwyn Cooke Rules !!

This is SO wierd.
Much like you guys I couldn't care less about that publisher or these characters. What I DO care about though are 3 amazing artists and one great writer teaming up like this.

- Count me in!!

Wow, what a great line-up. I never expected to be buying a Top Cow book.

Is this a one shot for these guys or an ongoing thing? It certainly would be nice to know there'll be new work from Bullock, Cooke, and Bone every month.

Hey Guys!

Great to see the interest in this project....Me Bone and Bullock!
Contrary to the press info, we'll be jamming on this book, and everyone will have thier hands in at each stage. The following is a question and my answer from a recent "enterview".

>But before I get to that, what can you tell me about the Witchblade
>Animated comic? How do you feel about working over David Bullock's
>layouts? What about having J Bone ink your pencils?

This'll be fun. First, I'd like to note that the real carrot here was the chance to work with Paul Dini on a comic. The last time I worked with Paul I was working for him on the Adventures cartoons. He stands head and shoulders over most writers in either medium, so I knew we'd have a great script going in.
J. Bone and David Bullock are simply two of the most talented young men I have ever met. The credits suggested are a bit erronious. For example, J. Bone is the best designer in the group, by a country mile, so he'll be handling the final design of all the characters. He also kicks my ass drawing the girly faces, so his pencil will be busy as well. I can probably add some sparkle with blacks and effects inking. So it'll go back and forth. Dave and I logged a lot of pencil mileage at Warner's and he is still one of the most sought after storyboard men in Hollywood. It's a natural to have him break down the story, and his action staging and posing has an extrordinary vitality that really excites the eye. David is going to come to Toronto for a month and we'll all work together on it, studio-style. So you could say, this'll be a lot of fun to do, and a chance to do a solid for Jim McLaughlin, a real gent.

Also, the above image isn't final. Here is the Bullock layout with Cooke pencils......Bone'll post inks later this weekend and when I've got it coloured......

Yeah
D

Inka-dinka-doo...

Postby Gobukan » Sat Mar 15, 2003 10:14 pm

Right on! Here be the inks...

...and holy socks could those pencils have been any nicer?!! It's like a drawing lesson every time I get to ink Darwyn's work. Indeed, it is he who kicks MY ass! Bullock too. Have you seen his Superman covers?

And, hey, let's not disparage the Witchblade too too much. She's not so bad. I'm pretty thrilled to get to work on the character, and Magdelana (?) will be fun to draw.

Witchblade's pal,
j.
p.s. Plus, Witchblade artist Francis Manapul is a good kid and can draw hair like nobody's business.

Beauty! Should be a great book between the four of you.

100 pages - what does that leave, only about 200 pages to go? Man, I feel my hand cramping up just thinking about that.

How do you approach a project of that size? Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Do you have to walk away from it from time to time to keep fresh and your interest up or is that even a problem?

Cap
