This is a profile from this past year. The head was the only good part of it in my opinion.

Still feels to flat though, even for a profile.

I think you have a pretty good handle on this man's head. I think you could help with the "volume" issue by adding just a bit more "cooler" color to the front of the face. Your shape making is coming along fine, so a slight tweak in the color temperature would go a long way, and give that head a nice solid feel. Keep it up.

I really like the oil one of the woman in the red coat. And I like how you have a very consistent and solid sense of proportion and anatomy, all pieces in this thread seem spot on to my eye in terms of looking natural, except maybe the first pic. Which is something I definitely don't accomplish in my drawings.

The pencil drawings seem to me that they could be a little sharper. Is that partially a product of the way they were transferred to digital or is that pretty much how they look? It looks to me like you are taking pictures of the drawings. If so you should use a high aperture, fast shutter, and lots light and if necessary a flash (mounted from the side would be best if possible, to avoid glare). And then you should always apply sharpening in post processing. Anyway, if i'm wrong about the camera then forgive me, but I thought maybe this could help make them look sharper.

I try not to use a flash because I find that it creates a really bad glare. However, maybe I should use more natural light when I take a picture.

Thank you for the kind words you two.
