Thanks wesers

Here's a gesture (2 minute) from last weekend. I don't usually post these, but . . . for what it's worth. Maybe I will post a few more.

Beautiful drawings, Fabulous volume.
Your drawings are both stunning and frustrating.

Absolutely beautiful! How long are these poses?

How long have you been drawing?

Thanks BoltMan

The gesture poses are 2 to 3 minutes. The others are roughly 1 hour, give or take.

Here's another one. (not great, but worth sharing)

OK - I had to have another stab at that last pose. Wanted to do a more "finished" piece (which I don't normally do with life drawing). Same model and pose, just taking my time on this one. Interesting to do the same pose twice. Also interesting to put the two pictures side by side and see the differences and similarities.

Let me know what you think.

The second one is far more convincing - both are nicely handled, but the second one has just got that air about it...

love the way you handle the chalk/pastels, Very deliberate strokes and tonal changes.

Hey this is great work, very inspiring! Very classical looking.
I am intrigued by the last 'repeated' pose. I take it you re-posed your model rather than re-drew your drawing?

I must put some of my work on a thread...

Hey Big Frog,

Thanks for your comments. I did repose. The pose is very close to the original, but you can see some slight differences in positioning. I really liked the pose but didn't feel the first attempt went very well. The second go around I just took my time to get everything right. Starting out very lightly on the paper, followed with stronger drawing after I felt it was accurate. I think the difference is pretty obvious.

I absolutely love poses like this. Another alternative is to have the model lay the same way but then twist her upper body so her back rests on the floor. Gorgeous!
