I'm still working on this, but here's a work in progress of Stan "The Man" Lee.

Looking awesome so far.

I don't know if it's deliberate, but it amuses me to see the creator of so many of Marvel's iconic characters making a DC "Superman" pose.

Purely intentional, Em. I still need to add a chest emblem.

That will be interesting - I had thought it was humorous because he was "exposing" a non-emblem-ed shirt. (silly me :D )

What about just Stan's catchphrase - 'Nuff Said?

Spider man also does that every once in a while.

About the caricature, it is looking awesome so far. And I agree that exposing a non emblemed shirt is a great idea.

this is one of those cases that disproves the rule about red backgrounds. in this piece, it neither overpowers the subject nor blends in too much with his skin tones. you've found the magic balance. nice work.

I think I'm going with 'nuff said. Thanks, Em!

Don, I've actually been planning on changing the red background to something more comic bookish. I'll show my progress soon.

Here's the final. Thanks a bunch to Em for coming up with the catchphrase on the shirt.

Holy... Thats amazing.

My only crit would be that the "'nuff said!" pops out a little too much, but other than that, perfect.

The final rendering on Stan is terrific, and the 60s'/70s' lettering style is just perfect. While I liked the original red background, I think the change to blue was the right decision - it helps the shirt pop more.

My only little gripe is that I feel the background is a tad fussy. I think it would be stronger getting rid of the white Kirby dot pattern and keeping just the black ones. It would feel more Stan-era authentic, in my opinion.
