These are all fantastic, one of the best jam threads I've seen so far. Hope I'll have time to contribute!

Airbrushed circle and scribbling. It's not nearly as impressive close up:

Creamdog - Awesome animated style Indy; bangalore_monkey - I like how well you captured him and still remained sketchy.

Here's my contribution. Sketched it during work, lettered quick at home. It sort of evolved as I went along. Didn't even really start out as Indy but sort of just became him..kinda.

Lots of cool Indy's up here.
HellBoyOne- Mignolaish indeed. Nice. Your second one is even nicer.

SPX- Indy animated. I like it.

EM- Struzen inspired. I like it a lot. Captured the likeness spot on. But then you always seem to.

Daniel- only disappointed there isn't more of Indy on the book cover. Captured the old paperback look very well.

Jeff West- Top Notch!! Love the cartoony look and yet you show off your portrait skills as well.

Creamdog- another cool animated Indy.

I feel inadequate posting my pen sketches here..got to do some more "finished" stuff.

Great character, great movies. i've been a couple weeks trying to develop a pastel portrait, and while I like the colors, I kept missing the likeness. Oh well, here it is anyway, crits appreciated

coryjustcory - The likeness might not be quite there in the pastel portrait (I think the eyes are a bit too "droopy"), but I love the technique and the colours. Are you familiar with the artist Harley Brown? He's one of my heroes and uses mainly pastels in his work. The sketch of Indy is spot on (great Xena too).

Em---Thanks for your kind words about the technique and color of my non indy-lookin Indy, Euan. I greatly esteem your portrait painting skills, so your approval means alot. Thanks also for the tip on Brown. I looked him up, he's great! I only wish his book wasn't currently out of my price range, but I found some very inspiring examples of his pastel portraits
The color mixings of the negative space in the works is especially inspiring to me. Over 2 years I've been working with my mentor, Jon Onye Lockard, and only horribly recently have I been able to hear his admonitions to not treat the negative space as an after-thought addition to the figure, but to understand that you can't properly draw or paint the figure without considering how treatment of the negative space will impact on the figure, that even though the figure dominates the composition, the figure and ground are inter-acting, interdepndent elements comprising the whole. With this as I say all too recent understanding, I've been looking more closely at artists' treatment of the negative space--Professor Lockard abhors the term "background"--and Brown's treatments are really rich, engaging paintings in their own right, as marvelous as the sensitivity his treatment of the figure shows!

Moonman--LOL, dude, you don't want to think that hard about the INDY movies, you'll wreck them for yourself!
