Daniel, thats really well done, really wish i could do digital work that well

i like that it's a suped up star destroyer bridge with his little chamber in the middle
nice way to tie it to the movie

love it Euan -- great intensity, the orange background works great and really nice pulp lighting. a small crit would have been to see a little more brush or texture in the lightsaber glow. but really nice piece. how big are the work files btw?
artofant: haw - that's great. his right eye is really well done.
barry: like the faces -- very Clone Wars and like the gag with the clone troopers bunny fingers.
douglas ladd: haw - i think you and another board member called EliottAnimated both share a love of all things Gerald Scarfe. very dynamic:-)
laseraw: i prefer the inks by themselves -- it has that woodcut look to it. and perhaps the eyes just feel a little wide apart.
bmonkey: a classic scene. i'd just suggest using harder edges to first define the shapes, then look at losing some of them so it reads more clearly. the darth vader is great -- a nice mix of styles (he reminded me of the original RM sketches). good stuff:-)
howardshum: cool - its so crisp, clean and sharp. hope you sell lots and lots of them!
mmmpig: classic scene -- love the strong silhouette.
kaiser: very cool -- his face almost looks like a sandperson. like the big, chunky saber.
alfret: lot of work in that one!. for me, the stye of each character feels a little inconsistent and its distracting from the impact of the final piece, but i really like the way you've laid them out and the bottom part is the most successful. did you colour it?
laseraw: like the bold sketches!
madhatter: interesting, but i'd stay away from those filters. they're a trap, i reckon:-)

thanks madhatter, mmmpig, stevencasidy (haw - yes, you got it), bangalore_monkey (glad you noticed that -- def important to bring in the familiar Imperial look, which worked so great in the orig movies), benfaulkner and lupin. you guys get me pumped to do more!

as for how long this took, it was 2 3 hour stints and i put together a little too, which you can access on my blog below :D

Pretty small, actually. The final PSD is only 1.7 megabytes (there's also a version that still has some layers for the lightsabre effects which weighs in at 6.7 megabytes). The physical dimensions are about 18 inches wide by 21 inches high, at a resolution of 50ppi. A lot of the stuff I do just for fun is quite low res (quite a few are the actual size shown, pixel for pixel)

Page 1 (after my last comment)

Barry - It has been a while since your last post. I really like subtle individuality you've given each clone trooper; douglas_ladd - Fantastic energy in your sweeping lines; laseraw - Very intense and gritty look to your Anakin. He could almost be from a Western.

Page 2

bangalore_monkey - A great variety in style and content. They're all good, but the caricature is my favourite; howardshum - a marvelous collection of mugshots; mmmpig - I think your picture depicts why Darth Vader is such an iconic character. Even as a pure black silhouette he's instantly recognisible, and still resonates evil while stationary; Kaiser - Love the chunky "woodcut" feel to your portrait of the Dark Lord; alfret - A very impressive and detailed piece of work, but (at this size on screen) it is perhaps a tad fussy for clarity. Maybe some colours could help individual characters to "pop" more? laseraw - Those are terrific sketches; madHatter - I'd like to see your image without the filter, if you still have it, because it's quite hard to make out as it is; daniel cox - That is all kinds of awesome, Daniel: regal, magnificent and hellish all at the same time

So I'm probably just highly paranoid in my sleep-deprived state, but that reminded me a lot of an older one of mine. It was the eye lines that did it. Guess it comes with drawing a faceless character, but hey...

I thought it was going to be just coincidental that your two pics looked similar.

It's a great stylish Vader, Barry; and I'm glad, NightWing12, that you didn't just copy it totally, but brought some of your own style to it

ok, I'm at work and did this for a few minutes... maybe I'll do one later that looks better. I do these at work with a Pilot pen and no pencil, so it's all pen, no presketch.

For something with no underdrawing, it's remarkably good, I'd say.
