Jam 12 - "X" marks the spot

Postby em... » Tue Nov 30, 2004 4:15 pm

It was inevitable. From when I started these Jams at the beginning of the year, I knew there would have to be an X-men based month. For over 40 years, they have seen the introduction of some of the most loved and hated characters in the history of comics, by some of the most loved and hated creators in comics.

I wouldn't even attempt to make a list of all the members of Charles Xavier's band of mutant misfits, and all the related friends and foes, suffice to say there is someone for everyone.

To start, probably the most popular of all - Logan AKA Wolverine. I'm sure it won't be the last rendition of everyone's favourite berserker canucklehead to see the light of day in this jam (or even on this page).

Great Wolverine for starting the X-Men thread, Euan :)
and, as you said, it will be not the only one on this page ;)
I sketched this quickly in Flash with my wacom pen while eating lunch (at the office), so
forgive me if it is a bit rough

I'll be back with some more rendered piece

Later
Francesco

How could I not contribute to this thread?! I'm a big X-nerd...
Here are some New Mutants.

I'll have to do some actual pencil drawings for this one, tho I got plenty of old material to repost :)

Nice kickoff, em!

TheRonin, if you skew the top of Logan's head to the right a bit, it'll be fantastic!

Timm, great New Mutants!

Here's a new OC one:

Great Gambit, Keith! I am glad to see your OC works again :)
Some pencils coming? Cool! I still remember those awesome Invincible pencils of yours
from the Image thread :)
I fixed Logan's head: I am still try to get confident with the wacom and with the system
to look at the monitor while the hand is on the tablet ;) Now it should lookbetter
Thanks for the kind comment :)
Ryuko: it's looking good: if you are willing to work more on the pencils, I would
suggest to resize (make it bigger) the bottom half of her body (the legs, pretty much).
Right now there is some little issue in the proportions.

Toonimator, thanx for the kind words... I'm really digging your Gambit.
Petersen, I love that Havok of yours.
Here's a couple sketches I found in some of my old sketchbooks... nothing fancy, just some loose heads. Hope u can see them ok.

All righty!! TheRonin, I took your suggestions and fixed a few other things too. Boob job, three-deifying, hand fix, the works. It's almost like she's a new woman. And it's almost like I use lame cliches.

timmgillette1: I apologize, Timm, but somehow in my previous post I forgot to
comment on your New Mutant pieces  Those are great sketches, Timm, including
the latest 2 with the X-Men. Cool style :) I wish the pic were a bit larger, though ;)
Petersen: oldies but goodies :) I remember having seen some of them. Anyhow, is
Hellboy member of the x-Men too? ;)
Ryuko: sorry, I wasn't meaning to redraw the all pics, just to resize the legs. Now
it looks better though, IMO :)
TomServo: I remember this, Joel, but, since it's a very very nice piece, it's worth to
see it again :)
