so i was guilty i didn't have any special avengers movie related artwork, and this popped into my head nearly fully formed.
i wanted to show that underneath the muscles and the costumes, the avengers are "real" people too. and like regular people, they have terrible photos too. i mean who hasn't got an awkward driver's licence, state i.d., or passport photo? this is the avengers' version.
lastly, i wanted to have the picture AND the i.d. card itself to tell a story.
the game is for YOU to fill in the blanks and make up your own story. why the characters and the cards look that way. if you want to find out about my thought process, check the notes below.

iron man- i wanted him to look like a nick nolte mughshot. like he partied a little TOO hard the night before, and was too late and too hungover the next day. he's a billionaire. he don't give a shit.
thor- arguably the most handsome of the men on the team, but perpetually in mid-blink in EVERY picture, (like jason lee in "my name is earl"). he uses his card as a coaster for his mead or ale or whatever norse gods drink. (probably out partying with tony stark.)
catain america- cap was caught in mid retort making a weird facial expression. the photographer was probably explaining what a prince albert was. i wanted the card to look old; like what you'd find in your grandfather's wallet.
hulk- remember that "friends" episode where chandler tries to get a picture taken, but he doesn't know how to smile? this was inspired by that. all he can do in the show was this squinty, grimace. as for hulk's card, purple stretchy pants aren't the best protection for stuff you put in your pockets.
hawkeye- i wanted a really douche-y pose coupled with a beat-up mug. as for the card, well, you're bound to get bloody when you fight doctor doom with a bow and not much else...
black widow- i wanted the least sexy pic of a sexy character trying to be sexy. to that end: duck face + orange tan + bunny ears/facebook pose. since she's a spy, i imagine her card would have mysterious stuff all over it.
