Do you exercise?

Postby Pam » Sat Oct 25, 2003 12:26 pm

I know most on here sit at drawing tables for many hours a day. I would like to know if any of you do exerise? I mean not trying to be Mr. Jock of the Gym. But going out riding your bike, walks, swim? Do you have time to exercise?

You have to make time, or love the ever widening process.

I feel good about it!

I was a pretty physically kid, so I have a hard time sitting at the drawing table for long stretches. If I spend days doing nothing but drawing and other low-strenuous activity the creative flow begins to ebb. The two activities go hand in hand for me now... exercise revs me up and drawing brings me back down.
I think I've got a good balance now I've discovered this about myself, I just wish I didn't move so far away from the beach....

I swim baby and ya gotta believe i glide through
the drink like a platinum torpedo....I also sleep an
unbelievable amount which has nothing to do with
your question...I can run for yards before a lung
is seen squeezing out of my gob.

We had our club too 'the lords of slaughter
walking club' we'd go walking about the north west of
england at weekends.Next year we are to walk the
penine way ...so there

and I have a bicycle

oh yeah and a skateboard...but I only use that to nip down the pub

I take a spinning class twice a week, plus I'm in a roller hockey league (but we're off season right now). I try to go dancing as much as possible too

Walking's good. Good for clearing your mind as well as being good for your lungs, Pammy. Canada must have some great places to ramble around.

I have an insane giant Scnhauzer that gives me plenty of regular walks. I refuse to fetch his sticks for him though.

I like to make time to excercise, especially since hitting my thirties. We have one of those all-in-one leisure centres nextdoor to where I work. Free corporate membership was offered, so I went for it.I'm cheap as well as lazy ;)
There's allways a few muscle Marys grunting and posing but most of the people are just regular folk who want to get a bit fitter. I just pop in for an hour or so after work 2-3 times a week.......while the pubs are changing their barrels of bitter.

I want a mountain bike again. I was allways more of a bmx kid than a skatepunk.

Well Randy,
I havent been to every place in Canada. But around where I am..there are some nice parks to walk thur..But I havent been to these parks not yet.. Now that the daylight sayings time is over...and the weather is getting colder. I will be getting out and walking ..I'm slowing trying to train to do K walks next year? I dont know how many I will try to do! As I'm just focused to get outside and walk!
Plus I have been swimming all summer long and now its Fall. I have an indoor pool to swim in..so I try to get into the pool 3 times a week!
In the meantime..I have lost abit of weight..but I have a long way to go..Maybe its i'm in my early 40's..and its time for me to be healthy ..both physical and mental too!

I have a set of weights around the corner from my downstairs editing suite, so I just walk over to them and do a few reps every now and then. I'm also up and down the stairs every few minutes and I also go outside regulary and do things there. I've been landscaping out front of my parents place the last month or so. Lots of digging and carrying and placing rocks. Makes for great exercise as well.

My mountain bike was stolen several years ago and I've not gotten a new one since. But I would probably go out biking if I had another one.

Of course if my wife was around, I'd get a lot more exercise!

emm no.

exercise tends to be accidental.
skateboard all over glasgow thinking self to be coo, get exercisel
lose job end up carrying fruit and veg get exercise,
have no car use bike get exercise.
Meet girl and express ones self physically
(as was the style at the time)
get exercise.

I think the only conscious thing I have ever done for health was stopping smoking.

I'm a Glaswegian and we are a kind of black hole of ill health.

Not like you CANADIANS.

PBN is as fit as a butchers dog.

I take long walks - the comic book store is a good 40 minutes each way, as is my wife's and my favorite Dim Sum place. And I play volleyball once a week.
But the big thing I do is the excercise bike. Now a bike all by itself could be boring.... But you haven't seen our bike set up! We've got a TV, VCR and PlayStation in front of it. And a small table, often covered with half-read books and art reference materials. I do a lot of sketching when I work on the bike in fact - the more rough the sketch I post here, the more likely it is that it was done while on the bike! I get up every morning ant do a 35-45 minute workout on it and am in really decent shape.
