Hasn't been any discussion of this. I'm pretty excited about it.

Based on Blomkamp's short film "Alive in Joburg".

I'm excited as well:) Have you seen the same trailer, but with the Alien un-blurred, and with subtitles?

saw the preview before "wolverine". at first, i thought
how cool a documentary it was... if only it wasn't a
documentary, but a sci/fi film about aliens... and boom!
that's exactly what it was!

i really look forward to this, just from the trailer alone
i think a lot of sci/fi, fantasy, and superhero filmakers
could take a lesson from this...

Looks great!

In L.A., I've seen a couple of bus benches that caution "For Humans Only!"

Looks cool but was this not done before? I believe it was called "Alien Nation".

Wow, you just brought back some memories. I remember the series actually being pretty interesting.

I think a pretty big difference between the two is the fact that "Alien Nation" had the aliens on an almost equal level, where D-9 has them closer to indentured servants practically.

I'm kinda mixed on the new trailer. I dunno, I thought it was gonna be all in the documentary style, but it looks like it flips a bit between a documentary and regular movie sort. I could be completely wrong though, and it still looks really exciting.

I'm really intrigued by the whole "you can't leave because we want your weapons" angle.

If I remember correctly, the events of Alien Nation take place a few years after the initial first contact, so the series was all about the aliens assimilating into human society.. Also, in that series the aliens were very much humanoid and in some instances, the aliens attempt to "pass" themselves off as humans. All kinds of wacky 80's melting pot goodness.

Here in D-9 we clearly see that these aliens are anything but humanoid, and therefore there is no hope of easily integrating themselves into our world.
Also, you know... TERRORISM.
The tone seems to be far more xenophobic than that of Alien Nation... which for me is most of the draw.
