Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

Postby eddylu73 » Sat Jun 28, 2003 8:46 pm

Anyone?

I saw it tonight. It was a BLAST! FUN CORNY STUFF. I personally prefered the first one, story wise. This one, had alot more similiar action sequences, but little on developing characters, or plot line.

Demi Moore, damn, she is fine!

Yep, I had a blast watching this, too. Wish I'd seen this instead of Hulk.

R.

numebr one bomb?

Postby Peter Fries » Sun Jun 29, 2003 4:41 pm

According to boxofficemojo.com, the movie placed at #1, but only took in $38 million, versus a $120 million + budget. Factor in a dropoff in the second week of release (Hulk dropped 70%!), and there could be trouble for these Angels...

hope this disaster bombs...

Charlie's Angels? Whaa...?
Well, personally I was prepared to state that nobody I knew would pay cash money to see this movie, and although I don't know any of you, I feel my heart wedge in my throat.
On the other hand, paying to see Demi Moore, well can't say I blame you.

I thought the first one was a blast, so I can't wait to see this one. At the very worst I get to watch a series of ass close-ups....
-C

www.cameron-stewart.com

Full Throttle is 10 times the movie the last one was, in my opinion. Hell, I even though Bernie Mac was a funnier Bosley (nice way of justifying him, by the way...and just as kooky as the rest of it).

There were a few things I found borderline extremely annoying but they're spoilerish so I won't bother till the rest of y'all have seen it. Still...I had a great time. A nice break from all the work this past week.

R.

Angels---

Postby JasonLatour » Mon Jun 30, 2003 2:30 am

I'm sorry but I'm with Toby on this one---there is no way you'll get me into a theater to see this movie. I saw the first one and only because it was played on HBO about a hundred times a week, which I suspect will be how I see the this new one. The first was a train wreck of a flick---I'll give you that the women are hot and there are a few funny parts but overall it pretty much just takes a big crap on the intelligence of the audience. Just not my cup of tea---but Demi Moore is hot as all get out

-J La

Im with Toby and Latour on this one. Sorry but Im not paying money to see a lousy movie with a few hot chicks in it that is PG-13. If they have those three getting naked maybe Ill dish the money but I can see women in bikinis at the beach for free. The first movie was terrible, I was embarrassed I even watched most of it. It seemed like it was a parody of the TV series, and not a funny one at that. Bernie Mac is just not funny. Tight outfits big explosions do not a good movie make.
Agree that Demi Moore is hot as heck, hopefully this movie revives her a bit and gets her into somemore roles.

Have you guys ever seen the tv show? It's EXACTLY like the movies, but with a 70s sensibility. They show was cheesy, fun, and sexy....which is what the movies are. But hey....not your cuppa tea. I may see this one again this week. I had a smile on my face and was all a-giggle for most of it.

I dig Bernie. I haven't seen the sequel, but did see the first one. The main thing that's keeping me from seeing this new one is alot of the really bad looking fight scenes that they're showing in the trailer, particularly one where I think it's Drew Barrymore is sliding under a table and it just looks stupid how badly it's done. I think that using the wires and all that has it's advantages when done in small doses, but it looks like they just went overboard. I might catch this one with my sister, but I'm not burning a path or anything to catch it before the DVD comes out.

Oh, and to me, Bernie Mac would be a big reason to see the movie, he's one of the funniest guys around, and christ, if you can't have BilL Murray, why not replace him with someone else whose funny as hell?

Oh, and I think that the director, McG has a ton of potential, and he's wasting himself on these movies. I'd love to just get a hint of what he would do with the superman franchise, because I think that if he did something that wasn't so tongue in cheek he might really turn out to be something else.

TV Angels

Postby JasonLatour » Mon Jun 30, 2003 1:51 pm

Hey Rick ---

Just to clarify I'm not claiming that the show was high art. To be honest the show pretty much sucked too but its cool in the "hey this is so crappy its funny" type of cool (sorta like CHiPS). I just couldn't get into the first one---it had me interest for about a quarter to a half of the flick but then it all went down hill in a flaming fire ball. Bill Murray I love, you always know what you're getting with him---pro through and through. And Bernie Mac is a funny guy as well---genius casting there. My biggest problem with Angels is just that its PURELY style over substance. Some of its cheap thrills are things best reserved for music videos (i.e. Hot chicks, explosions, fast cars) which is all fine and good in moderation but IMO it just doesn't sustain over two hours.

Ah cripes I sound like an old foggy.

-J La

I remember Bernie Mac from his Def Comedy Jam "you just dont understand" routine and his TV show, neither of which I find terribly funny. Can someone point me to some other things he's done, maybe Im missing something. Oh well I guess I just have a different sense of humor, not that Im down on any of you for liking Charlies Angels or Bernie, different strokes I guess.
