If you're interested in this event or know people who might be, please spread the word. This is one of our biggest fundraisers in years, and we'll appreciate all the help we can get.

Pixar Animation Studios is pleased to host a special event to benefit the Cartoon Art Museum on Saturday, August 23, 2003. The evening takes place at Pixar's Emeryville campus. Over wine and hor's d'oeuvres attendees will see a stunning gallery exhibition featuring the pre-production artwork for the Walt Disney Pictures presentation of a Pixar Animation Studios film, Finding Nemo.

Guests will then be escorted into Pixar's state-of-the-art 240 seat theater to hear the artists and wizards behind Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc., and Finding Nemo talk about how the movies really get made. Special guest speakers will include:
Dr. Edwin Catmull (Co-Founder and President of Pixar)
Pete Docter (Director, Monsters, Inc.)
Jeremy Lasky (Director of Photography, Finding Nemo)
Dylan Brown (Supervising Animator, Finding Nemo)
Dr. Steve May (CG Supervisor - Sharks/Sydney Unit, Finding Nemo)
Dr. Michael B. Johnson (R&D Film On Line lead).

After the presentation, guests will have an opportunity to converse with the speakers and other Pixarians at a reception including plentiful appetizers and drinks in Pixar's magnificent atrium.

Pixar Animation Studios is located at 1200 Park Avenue in Emeryville, CA. Gates open at 5:30pm. Free parking is available on site.

This event will sell out quickly and there are only a limited number of seats available. Cartoon Art Museum members can purchase tickets for the reduced rate of $125, while the non-member rate is $175. Save money and become a member of the Cartoon Art Museum today! Call 415-227-8666 ext. 300 to purchase tickets. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Does membership cost 50 bucks?

WOW that's a lotta scratch, but it sounds like it'll be a great event at a great studio.

I'm holding tours of my apartment for 3 bucks. Peruse my extensive cd and dvd collection. Enjoy the Mignola gallery. And hear me talk on and on about the NES emulator disc I got for my Dreamcast. It's to benefit the I Need More Capri Sun Fund. Watch yer step, don't step on my comics. They're everywhere. Free copy of 1602 to the first paying visitor.

The basic annual membership is $35, so it's $15 cheaper to sign up and buy tickets that way (plus it gets you free admission to the Cartoon Art Museum all year).

I've heard that similar tour packages have gone for $2500 for four people on ebay, without the fancy catered spread and without all of the Pixar VIPs on hand. I've also heard from inside sources that all of the secrets behind the fart jokes in Finding Nemo will be revealed during the presentation. Not too shabby, huh?

Damn Rick! I'm laughing out loud here!

The Pixar gathering sounds great. Too bad I'm up in Alberta. :-( And too bad the visitors don't get to go see all the cool offices and hang out in the Love Lounge! :P

Ha...I'm working evenings, as you may know, but just for being interested I'll save that copy of 1602 for you. If you have a parakeet, it'll be extra useful.

Argh! Y'know there's nothing much more frustrating that living a few blocks from heaven. I gotta walk by the studio to get to school and then I hear about these events and think maybe...just maybe.

But then I realize I dirt poor...hell I'm almost piss poor.

Then they go and say I shouldn't drool at the entrance, apparently it makes some of the employees nervous...

Hey Moonman,
since you walk by why don't you go in and see if there is an internship program??

I know I would. :)

Of course you would, I've seen your work, you got talent!

I might actually, but first I wanna finish school which has a internship program of sorts already (I find out the specifics in a few months). In any case, I'm figuring it's gonna be a slim thing.
