"The Princess and the Frog" will be a 'modern' fairy tale about a young girl, Princess Tiana, from the French Quarter of New Orleans set during the jazz age. It will also feature Disney's first African-American Princess. Ron Clements and John Musker have returned to Disney to direct the film.

i think it's annoying that this terribly ugly drawing is still the only thing representing this movie since they announced it at the licensing show or whatever over a year ago...and this is all the exact same info we've already heard too (nothing against you for posting thorston)

In the high render of Tiana on the balcony.. I feel her design looks kind of simple. Maybe thats just me... if you guys are familiar with David Gilson http://davidgilson.blogspot.com/ his design for Princess Tiana is way better than what we've seen from Disney so far. I hope when we finally see more of her that she looks more like David's design. I can't wait for this movie. It's about freaking time we have not only a black Princess, but black leading characters and an almost all black cast. Disney should have started diversifying their movies a long time ago... at least the 2D comeback is going to be the beginning of that.

Thanks for posting. I really like David Gilson's design/work.

It is seems like it would lend itself to a more "expressive/dynamic" character.

You're right too. It is time for Disney to release a film like this.

Hmmmm.
A Disney princess standing alone on a balcony gazing wistfully at her uncertain future...
How nice to see Disney exploring new things!
I wonder if she's about to burst into a ballad about her hopes and dreams.
Possibly even a song about how she wants something MORE than whatever dreariness life has dealt her.
Maybe she'll sing "The Levy Song".

Oh it doesn't matter when it is, it's that it's there at all.
If it is indeed after she meets some prince character she's no doubt singing about if it's something she really wants etc etc.

Also.
Why do you think it's time Disney made a film with an all black cast?

Your kidding right? Because DIsney has been around sense 1923 and the only 2D movie with a significant amount of black people in it is the Lion King! And that isn't even people... it's animals with african american voices... which is not the same. This movie won't have an all black cast... but almost all of Disney's animated films have an all white cast. It has only been recently with the 3D films that we have seen black main characters. plus, Disney has a history of racism and exclusion. So yes, I think it's about time that disney had a movie with black leading characters and a primarily black cast. I'm definitely not the only one who thinks so o.O
