FW Brand ink (old) - what is a good replacement?

Postby jimsz » Mon Nov 02, 2009 5:58 am

20 years ago I purchased a large bottle of FW brand drawing ink (black) and I am nearly out. It is the old mixture that had a slight ammonia smell to it with a very good consistency.

The "new" FW is a heavier ink which I don't care for.

Si anyone aware of the old style ink and what would be a suitable replacement?

20 years ago? How big was that bottle??

There are probably only three or four ink brands on the market -- might as well buy one of each and see what you like.

You can actually add a little ammonia to ink to change the consistency. This was what I was taught to do when any ink became too viscous with age.
