have you tried just googling models, sketching them and than posting to the 'girl' section of the forum and asking for crits?
I think I exist, but I could be wrong and if I am, who am I to care?

Surely you are surrounded by people. Walk in any direction, take a seat and draw the people.... take a dvd... pause it... draw it... google 'models. people, artists. models, poses, dancers, I have no gumption'

In a world increasingly over populated it is a little crazy that you have to ask where you
can find people to draw.

I really don't mean to be harsh, I just find the request either insane or laziness incarnate.

I think the idea is that its hard to find people in reality to sit still for 15 min.

check a local adult-ed class. they sometimes have some old people who can rock the house with figure drawing.

is something he needed pointing out

hey guys, i have looked locally. that's the problem. there are very few options. in fact, there is only one in my city and that doesn't pick up again for a few weeks. as for using pictures of models from online, i have done that and i continue to do that. unfortunately i can only progress so far without knowing what to look for.

and farouk, calling someone lame or insane because they are looking for help is harsh and not helpful. i wouldn't have asked if i hadn't already exhausted my other options.

have you no pals that could sit for you for 15/30 minutes out of their day?
I still think it is a tad nutty that THIS is your absolute only option.
An online figure drawing course will surely present you with smaller
versions of figures than a paused DVD on a tv screen... I don't know,
maybe I'm the one that is nuts

I don't understand why this is so hard....
Contact a modelling agency in the city--there's 5 of them in Tulsa. Explain what you want to do, and ask for the rates of the models. Emphasise that this will be NON-sexual in nature, and offer the option of model posing while partially clothed.
If you are a student, post a classified ad on the job board at your local college or university, and offer a nominal fee.
If that does not work, place a classified ad in the news paper or on Craigslist.
It might be an expense, but if you contact several fellow artists to join in the endeavour, the costs can be shared.

The advantages are that you can write off the costs as a tax deduction IF its a learning tool for developing professional skills.

Failing that, ask family members to pose, dressed of course. The more serious you are about it, the more likely you will find someone that will understand your needs.

Yea, there's dozens of resources like this on-line, and probably as many in every major city. I just do not see why this is, or should be, difficult?

ok, ok. find some homeless people, and have them pose for you!

even better, go to home depot and find an immigrant for a low rate and draw them.

I haven't done live life drawing for the longest time (years!) but I keep practicing, and getting better despite the disadvantage of the models not being live. Watch out for extreme camera angles of the photos and you should be fine. Remember, DRAW BIG
