For those of you living in Belgium: check out the focus knack stripstrijdIt's a contest where the winner will have the opportunity to publish one page, weekly, for one year in this magazine. I couldn't resist to participate with this superb initiative so I asked my friend Pierre to write some pages. Half a year later (or more?) we finally got published!!! Readers can actually vote too, so I sugest everybody who wants to be entertained weekly with this comic about : "sizzling hot chilies, tyrolian dances, sexy nazi sluts, diarrhea, punk rock and high fever: a must-read for the whole family!" should go to the site of focus right now and click the "absoluut geweldig" button (= absolutely great) :-) The other options are of minor importance but in case you want to vote for somebody else too: "fijne strips" = "nice comic" ; "niet goed, niet slecht" = "not good not bad" ; "nogal middelmatig" = "rather mediocre" ; "gewoonweg slecht" = "awfully bad". Keep in mind that 4 pages will be published over time, two more to go! Thanks in advance! Peter the horse - colours!

Back here in Belgium we have an interesting comics contest running. It's an initiative of the magazine 'Focus Knack'. You can have a look at the contestants that where selected already when you follow this link: http://www.knack.be/knack/focus/stripstrijd2008/Together with Pierre (who also wrote the scenario for 'the good for nothings' - see the post before) I've send something in, fingers crossed we get selected. I've posted page one from sketch to final page for your enjoyment. the sketch: A first inking test with a black pen. Didn't like the result, too clean, no spine. Also the font wasn't working too good either. Black and white with some red spots to accentuate stuff (works very nice with the rest of the story, here in page one it's still not very functional - except it looks nice). The font is great and free too, got it from Blambot. Works perfectly with the drawings. That's all!! Les bons a rien. example page --> evolution

Page 4 of 'Les bons a rien' , the 1931 adventure comic I'm working on together with my good friend Pierre who wrote the scenario. This should give you an idea of the process (except for the extensive sketching I usually do beforehand)Pencil: Potential Rube Goldberg reference for 'les bons a rien'?

'Les bons a rien', an adventure comic I'm working on that takes place round 1931, will have lots of funky references to the popular American culture of those days. This Rube Goldberg like minicomic hopefully makes you smile - even if you understand de ballen of the Dutch text. B = salt peanuts being spoiled in the coffee can ... something 'D' doesn't like apparently. { Last Page } { Page 1 of 3 } { Next Page } |
