4/1/2008 - Dominance War revisited

I ended up deciding that the previous character I was concepting just wasn't "me" enough and went back to the drawing board to come up with something more fun. This is who I came up with: Sesslyth, an amphibious eel-creature who is also a powerful mage. He fights evil robots with the help of his sidekick Ezekiel the Octopus. For the final Dominance War contest entry, I needed to submit one posed color shot, a monotone model sheet, and a monotone character development sheet. Here are my finals for those:

Enjoy!

Why are Ezekiel's tentacles pictured as straight out? so strange for an octopus!

One more question... why the four identical pictures above the faces? At least they look identical to me...

The purpose of the second sheet is to show a 3D modeler how they would build a game model of this character, so the characters are posed very stiffly because it's the easiest way to add all of the bones. Once they're all added, then you can move the limbs around however you want. So they're all in basic, easy to work with poses.

As for the pictures above the head shots, we were asked to show some work-in-progress process sketches of our characters. Those were all different costume sketches for him before i ended up with his final outfit. This blog used to let me set pictures so that you could click on them and it would expand them to full size. Now you'd have to right click and select "view image" on a PC to see the full-size one. I forget the command on a mac - command click and then view image? I'm sure you know. Anyhow, if you do that, you'll be able to see such details better.

RWW - Thanks!
