TravisMoosehead WEBLOG
A bit of a laugh with a couple of drawings thrown in!!!!
Greetings
I had that on my desktop for a while there I just found it this mornin, so I can't remember the artist or where I downloaded it from, will check out and update.
Nothing exciting at the weekend. Working out story issues, with myself on the movie adaption. Have a plot now that will tie it all in to one complete and compact short film. I storyboarded the intro and feel it's working. I'm just going to board one sequence at a time, that way I don't have a pile of scanning to do when I'm putting the movie clips together of the animatic. Anyway I will post when I have it all figured out.
We're havin fantastic weather here in Dublin, the big smoke. They've just decided to buil the tallest building in Ireland not far from our studio here, so hopefully if it's a rainy or a windy day it'll shelter us. Compared to American standards though it's only going to be a fart of a thing, it'll be like 300ft tall, don't know that in metres. But they're building it right in the middle of a kip, knacker area, we call it like a poor section of town, so it'll turn the park right beside it into 'knacker central'!
Nothing else to post. Will post tomorrow. I'll convert the opening of the movie animatic into an mpeg and see if I can post it here.
happy monday

Greetings,
Welcome to my weblog! I've never ever done this before so it probably won't work out, I'm not very adept with the old computer malarky.
Anyhoo, my real name is not Travis, it's Tom Galvin. I'm 303/4 years old and I am currently working as a background artist here in Dublin, Ireland, for Boulder Media, on a show called 'Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends'. It's not that well known a show over here in Ireland, it hasn't been snatched up by local syndicated television channels as of yet, but apparently it's doing ok in the States.
I've worked on a couple of tv shows in the past and on a couple of films in Scandinavia, but nothing anyone would really know about. I also did a couple of stints outside the industry, I worked in a liquor store in Dublin for a year before this job, which I strangely enjoyed, although the pay wasn't very impressive. Anyway I'm happy enough to be working in the industry aswell. My main problem is that I have no ambition whatsoever. I would have been more suited to animation in the older days, all this computer stuff gets to be a bit much for me, I'll be the first to admit. When I'm in the mood the best way to pass an evening for me is doing a storyboard test, or a bit of good quality freelance work, all with pencils. I don't mind the scanning in part, because sometimes the scans look better that the originals, when the scanner picks up a couple of hues in the paper colour, or texture.
Anyway although I'm not an avid poster on the site, I really enjoy the Drawing Board. I only joined up last year but it's great to see others' spin on subjects, and it's a great point of reference for me when I'm tackling a new project. The style varieties and qualities have always impressed.
My new kind of pet project is making short films. I've made two so far, they were unbelievably bad, but the work in progress is coming along very well. I'm doing an Irish spin on the card game in the Sting. And this time we're renting out the equipment we need for lighting and sound recording as they were the big drawbacks previously. With this blog I'll chart the progress, I'm just begining the storyboarding now. We're going to have musical insetrs to make up for time lapses that occur in the movie, so we're going to have a couple of montages, with a friend providing the music on a mandolin, Irish style. But I'm really looking foward to it and it's a lot more fun than watching tv or whatever. Anyway maybe some of you guys will check up from time to time here and it'll be a bit of a laugh, that's the other thing I don't really take anything seriously I just kind of want to do what I want to do without too much hassle. But tune in!
Here's my favorite personal drawing. I did it a few years ago. It's a caricature of my brother's dog, Chopper. It's fun and I really enjoyed doing it.
