6/23/2005 - Cute and awesome.

On my way to work last week I saw a baby crow who had fallen out of his nest. He was pretty huge, for a baby, so I think it was that time in every young bird's life when Mama subjects him to the age-old fly-or-fall test. Apparently he couldn't do the former so he chose the latter. I felt sorry for him but had to catch a bus so I couldn't really do anything.

The next day he was still there, but again, I couldn't really take him to work with me and keep him hidden in my desk, feeding him bits of my bagel. So, "best of luck little guy," and off I went to work.

That was last Friday. The little dude's still there! He's walking around the flower bed in which he landed like it's his own little yard. Eatin' bugs, cheeping (he still can't caw properly), today he was wrestling with a stick as long as my arm.

When I saw him on top of the fence, I figured he'd be okay, despite his feathers still being chiefly fuzz. I'm not really too worried, but man! That little crow is so awesome that I want to take him home! Maybe it's his perseverence, maybe I identify with him because he was also a disappointment to his mother (I kid) but I really like that little cute fuzz ball.

So this is he. Pokin' around lookin' at stuff.

That's ball-point on post-it, just so you know.
