Its that time of year again when I post some art!! WooHoo!! How is everyone, LongTime between Meals. In all honesty I dont visit the DrawingBoard as much anymore. I think I'm going to be retiring soon from Drawing. So enjoy it while you can and I may be putting an artbook together. So if there are any publishers out there.

So if you saw the new Iron Man Trailer This week you would be excited as I am. I just came back from Melbourne and Picked up a Iron Man legends figure for $5. Its really cool with Tony Stark in his very first silver suit. The Face plate even comes off to reveal Mr Stark. Anyway thats the inspiration for this one!!

Heres pre-zombie Ed from Shaun of the Dead, Has anyone seen this movie?? its in my top 10 list of all time favourites!! I even bought the British dvd of it just for the extra footage and commentaries from the Zombies and crew!!

11.20.2007 - MAGDRAGLAS: City of Jewels

Here we have it. Magdraglas.
The biggest and most popluated city on Natralis. The oldest human city still in use today. The only true seaport of the human territories. The capital of the nation of Magdran. Here is the map.
now the image is small and a bit rough. I'm cleaning the whole things up in illustrator so it'll look REAL purty soon.
info about the map:
That big oval on the island in the middle there is the market place. The "bare" island to the left with two bridges is the Royal castle and grounds. The large circle at top is the arena. The big blank fields spread throught the city house the crematoriums and mosuleums. (burn your dead! you don't want them coming back to eat you!) The smaller circles amid the city are temples of Law. The main one on the Lower East Side, with the neighborhoods circling it. Chaos does not have temples, rather wandering priests, and Luck's Casino/Temples are scattered around. The port is down on the peninsula on the right, as well as most of the wharehouses and Naval Headquaters.
History:
The Keloit River joins the Bay of Stars after windings its way down from the Cloudscrapers across the northland and through Magdraglas. Founded by Magdra in AR 22 (or RE 1998) it was built on top of the ruins of the Rendellian city of Nartirell and survived the Dark Years. With its key location and already established trade routes, Magdraglas prospered.
It soon became clear that it would outgrow its walls unless something signifigant was done. The Castors and Clerics of the city met with the Rolyal famiy to discuss the problem. They decided to build new city walls far outside the current borders and in the mean time build UP. Magdraglas is a city of mighty towers and spindles that pierce the sky. They pulled the natural stone up and stretched it to it's limit. People reside in many, while others store food or weapons or books. Everything is enchanted.
The new city walls complete, the Royal family decreed that the city expand. As they set new roads and tore the old wall down, the townspeople spread out. It is currently AR 2360 (RE 4336). Once again Magdraglas needs to expand, the massive city overflowing with all manner of people, human or otherwise. So as they say, "all adventure begins in Magdraglas!"

A Note on cities:
Magdraglas is densely populated. Beyond its enchanted walls lies the Kingdom of Magdran. Farms stretch as far as the eye can see. Everything is a day's travel away , but most of those "inbetween" places are small. However there are four (4) smaller cities and ten towns (10) within the kingdom. These cities are days if not weeks away from Magdraglas. Remember, the Monsters come out at night, so people stick together. The more the better. Castors and Clerics manage much of the encanted systems that make life in the cities possible. Yet technology has also prospered. Magdraglas is an exciting innovating place to be.

11.5.2007 - One thing at a time

So if you have been reading this things at all you know that I've tried to get a good handle on EVERYTHING in the world and go from a global scale to a detailed view. Well, I don't think I can continue like that. I've stalled because it's so complex. So many different things to work on, and nothing gets done. So I think I'm going to focus on one or two things. Maybe one kingdom, or hell, even a city. Most likely Madraglas. Being the biggest city and the only true sea port on the northland, it's the alpha and omega of Natralis. Interesting to say it like that.
On to the City of Jewels!
I wish I had a scan of that map.

So... yeah... 'Been a while, hasn't it? ;) I've been sitting here trying to come up with a funny reason why i haven't posted anything in 4 billion years, ..but then i figured that's exactly what you'd all expect. As if coming here with kitties wasn't predictable enough =P
Here's something you may not be expecting, though: i have uploaded 2 RARE pencil tests from the Iron Giant. You'll want to check those out before WB tells me to take 'em down.

Yes. here's some of the new stuff i promised.
Trolls.
No, not the ugly, regenerating scared of fire types that live in swamps. no.
The trolls are more like the ones in WoD Changling. Tall, honor bound samauri types.
Trolls are related to the giants more than any other of the races and reside on the far eastern coast of the Northland. They are tall, 7' on average, smart and wise. They, along with the giants, built many of the old structures of the world. They have also served in, if not led, many of the great armies. One does not cross, or even worse, break a promise to a troll. They are much sought after as military commanders ( except by the Caprians who belive no one can do it better than they can). They take thier religious vows very seriously so do not enter into them lighty. This is also true about their earthly promises. A troll does NOT break his promise. EVER. If circumstances align to make this difficult, a troll will go out or her way to change events to keep her promise alive.
Tall and thick skinned (ranging from tan through brown to gray) they have thick hair ( same spectrum) and large hands and feet. The males have two "tusks" that jut from their lower jaw towad the ground. Females' grow from their cheeks up past their temples.
Trolls ride huge beasts akin to dire oxen, called Paitan. Large, strong and fast, these creatures TOWER over normal horses. As omnivores, they can eat almost anything, and most often do.

The Gorlim are the "villianous' race on Natralis. This is not becasue they are evil, but becasue a long time ago a hateful, spiteful , xenophobic individaul came into power and was VERY persuasive and abusive with his power. As a might cleric he died, becoming undead to continue his dominence, while his beliefs became law then dogma then culture, so that today Gorlim live, love and raise families, but murder, raid, and kill all others they come across. He sits there still, in the rotten heart of their land, festering with hate. As such they have isolated themselves beyond the great desert below the iron hills.
Gorlim come in three (3) varities:
The Alpha: Small, hairy, and dog-like, these gorlim tend to be the smarter, crafiter ones.
The Beta: Huge, bald and mammothly strong, these gorlim function as the military might of the gorlim forces and most of the physical laborers
The Helix: A mix of the first two, these gorlim are tall and strong and smart and cunning. They are the officers in the military and the rulers of most of the tribes.
A note on Grolim reproduction - with vastly different types of gorlim, the question that begs asking is how does that work?
Are they all one race? Yes
Their gene code is such that the dominate genes greatly determines the physical outcome of the child. Most often this results in Alpha or Beta children. If the recessive genes combine you find that you get the Helix. This the way it has benn since the beginning. A household might be very mixed or it might be "pure". These things mater not to the Gorlim. Just don't bring in an outsider . Don't think differently. Don't go against the grain. The Clerics will know and skin you alive. These same clerics rule the tribes and kingdoms
The Gorlim have yet to master making steel, so their weapons are made of iron and bronze(mined inthe hils north of thier terriotory). This is partly due to their self imposed isolation, and partly due to their dogmatic disregard for other's advancements. There aren't any Castors in the Gorlim as they do not have accesss to the schools in which to train oneself to become a vessel for the essence of Yventuil.

I'm off to Melbourne again this weekend for almost a week well 5-6 days to meet Bruce Timm and make a complete ass out of myself no doubt. Any Tips on what to say and what not too??

I saw a couple of movies this weekend one was called 28 Weeks Later and 1408 all I can say DO NOT WATCH THEM. They were so Boring that I know next time that if I have trouble sleeping I'll just put these on ARGGHHH horrible!!

October 3, 2007 - ARTWORK: Wonder Woman

So you want some new art I guess??? Okay heres a new one howsabout my first ever Wonder Woman. I've tried before at doing WW but she just never came out right. Anyway if you like it leave a comment because unfortunately my mind reading ability doesn't reach long distances!
It was a good chance to finally test out Illustrator on my new laptop and to almost iron out the issues of putting 7 year old software onto a new operating system. Its still not quite right but I'm working around it. Now if only I could get Photoshop to work on this thing. Oh yeah..... if anyone knows of a free image conversion program that can convert AI files into JPEG then please let me know I'm getting tired of having to move from computer to computer.
I gotta say the ButterFlies in my stomach have begun to aflutter with the prospect of my meeting with Bruce Timm next weekend. My friends have been egging me on to show him some of my artwork but I really don't want to destroy the illusion of Mr Timm actually liking it. I don't know really feeling very conflicted right now......
I found out my old friend SammyG is also going to the Armageddon Expo so atleast we will have fun there pointing and laughing at the geeks.....Oh wait I'm a Geek.....Dammit!!
My Joker Keyring has still yet to arrive, Oh I hope it comes Tomorrow!! More Artwork on the way!!

September 29, 2007 - Coolest Thing EVER!!!

So I got this laptop backpack a bit over a month ago and I needed a keyring for one of the ties on it so I decided to try and find a little cool one to put on it. I just chucked in the EBAY search engine 'batman' for a bit of fun and low behold THEY EXIST!!!! Not only that but from the animated series............
So I totally fell in love with the Joker Head Keyring (right of picture) and so did everyone else for that matter but I was determined to own it. And after a long and expensive fight I now I do own it well almost..... waiting on it to arrive hopefully later this week. I seriously think this is the coolest keyring ever and its the kind of thing that could be stolen quite easily. So anyway what do you guys think is it cool?????
I know a few of you want to see some new art from me soon and I respect that, I have one or two pieces that I am finishing now and will be posting up soon with more on the way. After some teething problems I got Illustrator to work on my lappy with only a few bugs to fix but still I'm really happy about that!!
Got back tonight from watching 'Ying Tong' a stage production of the story of Spike Milligans Mental break down when he was in the Goons. It was very good with some funny and also sad moments I hope that one day I can find someone that is as cultured as I am because I know very few people who love the theatre experience nowadays!!

September 22, 2007 - Subliminal Message: Women Are Evil!!

So I'm in a bit of shock tonight I was watching the local news on TV and I discovered to my horror that a store in my home town was Burning down. It's called MYER and it also happens to be where I bought my recent and coolest bit of hardware my new 'LAPTOP'.
Its one of the biggest multi-stores in Hobart that sells everything from dvds to underwear. And now its gone up in a ball of flames. I guess your thinking why the hell should I be upset with something like this no-one died they all made it out safely and its just a shop.
But you see this is an old building it goes back to the early 1800's, I remember going there when I was just Five years old and seeing them put up posters of the 'new' Flash Gordon movie and playing with muppet show toys in that store. Its where my parents bought our very first video recorder 25 years ago although thankfully we didn't get the Beta machine. I've even known people that worked there. Now its just gone.
Its pretty much just fond memories and people who know me know I'm a very sentimental guy. The last time I was there was only this week on Thursday. I had a quick browse but its one of those places where if they didn't have anything on special the prices were way too high. The last thing I bought from there was the tickets to the armageddon expo for next month so lucky I decided to get them early.
So now they are estimating the damages not only to the myer store but the surrounding buildings as well its quite close to the only comic store in Hobart so I hope thats okay!! It seems that it will be closed until after christmas while they decide on what to do next. This will make a significant impact into our local economy so it will be interesting to see what rises from the ashes. I'm going there on monday so will stick my nose in and see if I can get close to the damage and get some photos of it. (EDIT) So I just heard they believe the fire started at the cosmetics counter which would be about right as it most likely was started by a woman looking in a mirror.
As I just mentioned before I have got the Tickets to Armageddon expo so I'll be there in mid-October to meet Bruce Timm (I hope) and hopefully other famous people. From reading recently it looks like Adam West and Julie Newmar have dropped out. And I was hoping that I could get Julie to sign my SGT BILKO dvd. Damn oh well!!
Onto other news and as you may know by now I have two blogs, This one and my blogspot so the differences should becoming more apparent. On the blogspot I will have my life as an artist in cartoon form with selected stories and experiences as well as my special projects and I have also begun a regular weekly posting of Anti-Girl cartoons which I hope to build upon. I will also do all my live blogging on blogspot. You can check it out HERE
This blog will contain all my bits of new miscellanious art and more personal notes if I have any new art on one of my projects I will also link to it from here as I know not many read this bloody thing. Anyway theres apparently an rss feed if you want subscribe to this for some reason.

September 16, 2007 - Don't be Bald when you Have a Brain Scan!!

Over the last several weeks I've been having a lot of medical tests, I've had X-Rays, Ultrasounds and now I've had my first and hopefully last EEG which stands for Electroencephalography (say that when Drunk). Its a way of recording Brainwaves. And before you say it Yes I was found to have had a Brain if not a very small one the size of a Peanut.
I was hoping to get a picture of me wearing the scanner cap but the operator freaked when they found I brought a celphonecamera in the Hospital. And I was not allowed to use it but heres a quick picture of what I would have looked like and yes I would have looked more like a dick than normal.....
It was all recordered on computer it will be alittle while until I learn the results. But when they finished they took off the cap to reveal all these imprints in my head I looked like BRAINIAC it took ages for them to finally leave and more people stared at me as I left the hospital like I was a freak more than usual. HAH!!
See I'm still blogging here once I get back into the swing of things, everything will become clearer as to what blog I will use for what until then Standby for exciting news coming very soon.
