8/7/2005 - Hit me, biatch!

'Been a busy few weeks! Between Comicon, our Vegas vacation, and my new job... i haven't had much time for my usual dorky internet habits. :(

Without further delay: our Adventures in Las Vegas!!!! YEEEAAAAHH!! ....

We stayed at Treasure Island...oh wait... i mean, " T I ". They've demolished the really funny (fake) wooden pirate sign and replaced it with the most hideous, ass-ugly neon yellow and green blinking " T I " sign...'cause i guess acronyms are waay more vegas bitchin'. The casino's main pimpage was their new outdoors stage show,"The Sirens of T I". They've replaced the big 'ol pirate battle with a bunch of goofy chicks in skimpy 'pirate' outfits, and they're trying to seduce the most gay-looking, clean-shaven, open-shirt-ed, pretty-boy pirates i've ever seen. o.0- Pirates are supposed to be scarey and badass, i thought (??) The Britney Spears-esc singing and the catty dialogue are borderline funny ( as in, horrifically bad movie 'funny' ), ..er, also, that'll depend on how many drinks you've had prior. Everyone loved it; they all clapped and went ape-shit; ...but they were all probably drunk off their asses. That was the only explanation we came up with.

The new Wynn casino...

...had some interesting decor....'not sure what you'd call this 'style', but it looked festive as hell. It's definitely the casino to 'see, and be seen' at; as it seems to be the most hip and is ridiculously expensive.

'Some awesome sightings:

One of the most dumpy-looking hotels on the main LVBvd strip, happens to have the one of the most awesome signs! See how it's starting to get a little cloudy behind the Holiday sign... We then get to witness something we don't see very often around LA: a lightening storm. :D After about 3958745 tries, and a bit of luck, i was able to capture the lightening striking the Frontier casino.

The Peppermill diner:

Hahaha, we love this place :) It's across the street from the Stardust ... open 24 hours; we make it a point to always eat here when we're in town. It's wildly decorated in pink and purple, the grains of sugar in the canister at the tables are rainbow-colored, the lights are stained glass with bright pink flamingos on 'em...and the bar has pink neon lights, a shiny silver counter, and plasma screens. Oh, the food is pretty awesome, too.

The arcades...

WOW. Anyone who's a DDR nerd knows how incredibly rare a Disney DDR machine sighting is! The song selection is pretty retarded...it's mostly Disney tunes with a dance beat ( "It's a Small World", "The Electric Parade", "Supercalofiudkuhsidufsfuagis"...and my favorite,"Macho Duck" :P ). Anyhow, this machine can be found deep within the Circus Circus Adventure Dome, along with other rare rhythm games like Taiko Drum master, and Dance Maniacs. The pinball scene wasn't as happenin'...though there was a South Park pinball set to free play at Gameworks ( next to the MGM Grand casino ).

FAO Schwartz at Cesar's frikkin ENORMOUS Palace...

Damn this place is huge. They keep adding more and more crap to it! 'Glad the FAO there still lives on; 'not sure why, but that store always gives me the giddies. ^_^ 'Could it be all the happy tigers? Probably. Since our last visit, they re-did to top floor making it like an out-of-the-way arcade. You can purchase a gamecard ( ala Gameworks ), and play all thier floor models of various cabinet games they sell: Pacman, Centipede, Simpsons Pinball Party, etc..

Flair rules...

...as does anything with flipping. :D Here's our pal, Mig; flair bartender at Carnival Court, Harrah's casino. He's so friggin awesome; he makes reeeeguuuulaaaar bartenders look like old ladies. Who the hell would dish out $300 for Cirque de Soleil tickets, when you can just go visit Mig and friends for all your flipping needs? He got me pretty drunk,too; Rob said i was trying to jumpkick people, but i don't remember this.

The Old Strip....

There were times i was walking around looking for something to do while those shiesty boys were playing blackjack Let's seeee.... topless party or boxing dinosaur pens? Holy crap, that's gotta be the decision of a lifetime. o.0

Every hour, there'd be 15 minutes of free entertainment from above: The Freemont Street Experience... and what an experience it was. It was more fun watching the folks reacting to the show: their drunken dancing, the one guy screaming "YEEEAAAAHHHHH!!!!!" when they blasted "Bad to the Bone" and showed a computer animated skeleton riding a motorcycle and popping a whelley. .....

More off-strip fun and our favorite buffets..

Terribles casino ( Flamingo Drive ), has some pretty good breakfast deals: both the restaurant and the buffet there are dirt-cheap w/good quality food. Despite the name, this place is sooo not-terrible.

Treasure Islaa.... i mean, T I had a new buffet: "Dishes" that wasn't half-bad. In fact, we enjoyed it very much: all-you-can-eat sushi!!!!! I had like 98453533584 pieces of salmon and a whole ton of creme brulet, cute little pineapple upside cakes, even cotton candy!!! 'Kinda pricey, but soooo worth it if you're gonna take advantage of the unlimited sushi.

Ok...i saved this for last...

There's not much happening at 2am, Thursday night on the Old Strip... But wait!! What's this??? TONS of people! All pushing and standing on their tippy-toes. There must be something truly amazing going on!! Ooo OOO!! What could it be?!?! .....so i push my way through the hordes of people...

'Not since my trips to the New Jersey shore have i seen such mastery of the spraycan.

Crap, that's a lot of eye candy!
Old signs rule.

And there was a guy who did spray can art at my home town's annual fair. A couple years ago he didn't show and I was a little sad. Even though I'd never think of paying for any of his art I still wanted to know he was there. *Sigh*
Spin art disappeared too.
All the great artforms are disappearing. :)
