November 26, 2005 - The S.O.S Super Fun Show

I promised some art didn't I?!
About 5 years ago I began creating some super spy characters, at the time I had no idea what I wanted to do with them but I had alot fun creating them and tweaking their designs over the years. So late last year I was asked by Gene at FatKat animations to adapt them into a Pitch for a possible Cartoon Series. I knew it was going to be a tough road and other things I was doing at the time suffered from it. So as part of the development I created this small strip to hopefully give a feel for what I was aiming for. An action orientated show.

So what of the future of the pitch? well as of this writing I have a writer who has graciously given up some of his time to produce a pilot script with his ideas. I have some S.O.S sketches that have been stockpiled for the inevitable Sketchbook I hope to finish soon. I guess what I really need now is funding to create a trailer.

I'd love to get peoples comments on it good or bad as to if people would like to see a show like this.

I REALLY REALLY like this. I love the shapes and colors that make up the cityscape. The shape of the jet is Nice and simple and totally says Avengers' Quinjet to me. But what I like most of all is the tentacled menaces. I can clearly picture those things animated, with the head holding pretty still and the arms flailing all manically-like. Good stuff.

Good style and rendering. Good characters. I would like to see more panels to develop the story more. A panel with the figures in realation to each other or their enviornment (set up panel) would help. Right now the panels seem like separate images instead of one leading to another (except for the last two). In the first panel, have the aliens destroying the buildings to heighten the danger.

Good job.

Still in the early stages, currently the project is in limbo since the funding needs to be raised and even then it will cost thousands of dollars for 30 seconds of animation. Not Cheap!! This was more of a Teaser to show prospective funding organisations what the cartoon would be like so its not totally complete. I would personally love to see the mechanical octo's running riot and fully animated. I'll work on the idea some more before trying to sell it! :)
