November 5, 2006 - NAUSIA!!
Pretty much been in bed the past weekend, hoping and praying that the pain from my feverish head would atleast calm down abit which it did late this afternoon after numerous PainKillers.
Last night however I managed to sit in front of the computer for what was the Great DvD Battle of 2006. Local Australian DVD Distrubitor of Anime and Retro cartoons like Heman and Roger Ramjet Madman Entertainment was celebrating their 10th Birthday in style. By knocking down all their prices from $30 per disk to just $10!! This caused a real stir in the anime community as not only could you get your favourite cartoons like Studio Ghibli and entire serie of Anime knocked down to a measly $10 unheard of in todays climate of Big Profit. The catch was the Online Sale was on for 10 hours between 10PM and 8AM. Unfortunately Madmans good intentions were hampered by the shear volume of customers wanting some bargains and from the first minutes of the sale the servers went down 'BOOM'. People stayed up All night to try and get some stuff. Some walked away empty handed and some like Me got through eventually and managed to get something if not what they all wanted.
I'm a member of the madman forums and I actually mentioned that the servers may have problems before this all started. This was only announced two days before but it was enough to create a word of mouth that spread quickly. But nothing could have readied me for the impact that it has done in its aftermath. Many people are understandably upset that they spent 10 fruitless hours trying to buy stuff and then having to find that they were constantly losing items, gaining multiple copies or being thrown out from the site all together.
There were so many upset that the Managing Director has now stepped in and said that they will fix it!! Which is pretty cool for any manager to do that.
Whatever the outcome Madman have always been the best at what they do, they are fans running a business and in doing so care for fans. Recently I bought one of their box sets and the promised cards were missing I asked for replacements and not only did I get a nice friendly email back but they posted me the cards and a few extra dvds too for my trouble.
The booty I did manage to get from last nights sale will hopefully be here next week crossing fingers and who know Madman might see it in their hearts to also look at giving out further discounts.
Of Course when my stuff arrives I'll post it here for you guys and girls to paw through
