August 11, 2006 - Bring Out the Violins!!
I don't know why I never really did a Blog before this opportunity came along, I'm grateful for you all who still check this out on a regular basis. Its suprised me how in the last few weeks Kristen and Josh both whose artwork I admire GREATLY would want to see MY artwork. I'm not very good I know that and it was at some point last year I gave up on my website and professional artist aspirations.
Once I had people who would go to my site and email me with compliments (some of which I built up friendships) and some would leave messages in the guestbook. After what looked like a bright future with getting a couple of paying jobs. I started to get offers for work from companies who didn't want to pay a dime because they thought I would be an easy target but you can only take so much of the spiel that 'This would look great in your Portfolio' Problem is I have so much Portfolio material but virtually no pratical Paid For Material that I'm lucky I'm not on the street already.
Add to this my reaction for a submission to work on a ANIMATED movie with the comment by the industry professional in charge who replied ' Your Works too Cartoony', and I won't Lie That Hurt!!
After that I gave up, my website fell in a BIG hole in the ground and I tried to bury it DEEP.
So I put my art tools into a bin and tried to not look back. But there was something inside that just kept pulling me back to drawing, whether it be inspiration or just plain stubborn stupidity.
If it wasn't for this blog I would have closed up shop long ago I had virtually stopped posting on the drawingboard.org I just felt with other artists negative reaction to my artwork it made me feel I didn't belong in such a group. So I began posting exclusively to here for those who want to see my work.
So what does this have to do with anything, you may ask? Well this weekend sees the emergence of my new website. I've bitten the bullet and decided to Reboot the whole thing from scratch they'll be new art as well as some newer features I've added. I've already gotten to the testing stage of it and it should be online in the next day or two.
As a thankyou to all those who have kindly taken the time to comment on this Blog over the last 10 months I'll be inviting you via an email or PM once its done!!.

That was a great post! I have a little tear in my my eye :)
I haven't posted anything on the board in a while either. I hate how some folks will just post an unfinished sketch just to post something. Sometimes it seems like the quality of art on the db has dwindled a bit.
I'm glad to hear that you are bringing back your site. I'm anxious to see some new Mattalicious Art! I like your space chicks and spy chicks. Do you ever do pinups? I can't remember.

That's great Matt, you're my favorite self depricating artist. I can't wait to see the new site and art.
I feel the same way about the board at times.
I think everything goes in cycles so we should have a renaissance real soon.

Sigh! Yes I agree with both of you when it comes to the board. I have not participated this year as much as in previous years, which is a shame. I've felt its become over populated and especially because people post what looks like they brought up with their dinner the night before. Innocent artists don't stand a chance right now.
I'm hoping the sites about 48 hours away from operation, had some server issues connecting so hopefully they will be fixed soon.
Kristen: Mattalicious Art hahaha I like that new word. No worries about being out of touch we all get busy due to lifes concerns. I'll try and remember to send my addy in your email.
Josh: Depricating Artist?, I suppose its better than defficating Artist...ooooh gross
