January 5, 2006 - What A Day!!

So I realised after trying to recover from the FF film, that I had to get up from bed and go to the big city and shop for some clothes for the job on Monday. I was given a round figure of $200 from the recruitment agency to spend on the clothing but they said try not to spend that much because we need the money more than you. Fine.

So I spent two hours trying to organise getting these freebie clothes because people had to make calls, faxes and write out cheques. Then I needed to get some shoes, because seriously my old ones were getting thin and worn. So I'm in the discount store and of course every single damn pair of shoes in my size were gone. I ended up buying these leather boots that were about a size too big for my stinky feet. I don't know why but I hate having to try on shoes in public theres something dirty about that.

So after the big run around, I went to catch the bus to go home only to find it absolutely full to the hilt of  passengers trying to get home and there was still a line up half a mile long to wait. Damn That. I went shopping in Target and this where it gets weird.

If you cast your minds back to a couple of weeks ago where I mention I had got a copy of Prince of Persia Warrior Within I had waited a whole year for that to come down in price. Well just less than three weeks ago the third installment the Two Thrones was released in Australia. Now this is crazy but its already HALF PRICE!!. Did I miss something because normally I would have to wait a year for it to even go down even a little off the price. One wonders why this has been marked down so quickly. I had a little money from some casual I did and I bought it as it was the only copy there. But I gotta say I really hate that the store has a policy of opening the boxes pulling out the disc and putting it on the shelf. I asked them for a Sealed Copy and the guy was like 'A WHAT???' 'You know one that hasn't been tampered with thats the whole point of the XBOX seal so people like you don't go opening the boxes while in the store. I mean why open every single copy why not just put one empty box out and keep the others then later instead of having to search through thousands of discs to find the right one you just grab a sealed copy and give it to the customer. But no they can't do that its too easy for them.

So anyway I bought it haven't played it though, since I haven't touched Warrior yet. Still when I looked in Electronic Boutique they were selling it full retail so its obviously not everywhere!!

Anyway I might have a quick play of it now and report back tomorrow with how good it is.

That seems retarded to me. I wonder, though, if they didn't break the seal, whether they would charge full price. Like they break the seal, and then go "Oh no! The Seal is broken! Well, let's just charge half price." S-M-R-T

Yeah I thought that too at first but no, it's actually in their current catalogue at that price. I also found another catalogue from a computer shop with it for sale at a cheaper price still. Totally Weird but I still believe if they sold all new games at that new lower price then I think the games industry would be making much more of a profit then what they complaining about now with piracy being rife 'Stop Ripping us off with overflated prices and we'll get behind developers and pay what we believe its worth'.

Lets hope they do this more often or other retailers begin following these cheaper stores lead.
