1/22/2007 - Big News!! |
Allright, finally ready to announce this (big nervous breath intake):
In one week from now, I will be joining the talented crew of Avatar, The Last Airbender, and help with the storyboards.
You've seen me post a lot of fanart about it recently - and most of these were done BEFORE I was even contacted. I've just been a big fan of the show for a while, and you can bet that was one opportunity I had to take (I just hope I can do it justice, worry beads just thinking about it!)
At first, I wanted to keep this quiet. See, I've been having a lot of fun with the rest of the Avatar fandom artists...and I didn't want it to change. I love this crowd, I love their work, I'm having fun with them! But let's face it- many of them would find out eventually, and I didn't want to cause any anymosity with a "why didn't you tell us!?!" accusations or...whatever. I can't judge people's reaction in advance. It may be good, it may be bad.
And keeping it quiet almost felt like I was lying sometime. I didn't like that at all.
I hope you guys will still let me crawl amongst you, let me keep doing my little parodies and comics for fun...cause I am still one big Avatard!!!
A few notes:
This happened really quickly- passed a storyboard test in December (while having a leg infection, drawing in the hospital waiting room...). Got it right (ouf!!!), and had about a month to prepare.
As I write these lines, I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about what is going to happen in season 3. Nothing, nada, nyet. I am as in the dark about the story as the rest of the world, and am looking forward to see what will happen, like everybody.
Please, do not ask me to give you secrets of the show once I know a bit more. I will be under contract, and that means the Confidentiality Clause must be upheld. I will be sworn to secrecy. I really wish I could tell you, but it will be professionally impossible. Sincerely sorry about that.
So there, cat is out of the bag.

I'm so excited for you! My sisters and I went to Nick studios over the summer, and we met the people that worked on ATLA. They are soooooo nice and you will have an awesome time! Have fun, and congrats again! And hey, maybe if my sis gets accepted to her college in Cali, she'll come intern there and you'll see her (she got an intern offer last summer while we were there).

Moi qui n'arrêtait pas de soupirer en lisant tes oeuvres et en me disant à quel point c'était injuste que tu n'aies pas la chance de travailler sur un truc d'Avatar, toi qui est si hot, rend tellement justice, so cool, etc etc... | Hi. SnapesAngel here (or snapes_angel on LiveJournal and Blurty, possibly Hi5 and of course MySpace, Spam on a Stick elsewhere, and... lol). First, congratulations! Second, the only thing I'd ask, you probably would have about as much fun finding as I am, namely, the episode titles that were supposedly leaked. Rumors are running rampant. I do know just enough about the animation business that I know you don't know in advance quite a bit of the story, as y' all are split up into work groups, or something. What I've seen in the little time I've been on DA, you deserve it, because you do great work. BTW, the latest Season 3 rumour is a 1 March 2007 premiere for Season 3. |

Great work you do, I know you will do great for them. I have thought about doing storyboards myself, any tips on what to show prospective people to get a job in storyboards?

Many thanks for the DA folks who came to visit (those with names and those many anonymous ones, all very appreciated)
Lirale- je suis juste partie un petit bout de temps- on risque de se croiser facilement.
SnapesAngel- I know nothing of the rumours about season 3- be it show title or plots or...I'm just totally in the dark here.
Zarrah-Chan- if anything, I still am a Avatard before everything else - the rest is..well...a great opportunity yes, but I'll still be all over the fandom, enjoying the fanarts of so many other talented people.
Neneuche- je pars seulement quelques mois. Mais je promet de rentrer un beau jour là-bas avec ma ceinture flèchée, et de crier bien fort le nom "QUÉBEC!" Hihihi!
Irrel- I hope it won't get weird talking to me (unless I start acting weird, in which case give me a good slap in the face!)
Salvor- Un gros merci!!
sylvacoer- I do hope to be able to still produce fun fanart- I'll need to let the stress out sometime ;)
kirkguy- I didn't even know about the job posting! When I saw it, and seeing it is still up, I guess they are still looking for more artists for the show.
Para-Chan- it is an honour, and I do feel kinda dazed. When I talk of stuff being cancelled, I was reffering to my work, and not the serie. I would be soooooo sad if that got cancelled!

That's great. Your work is amazing...I've been checking it out at DA ever since I discovered it.
I hope you can share your actual storyboards with us, after the episode they're related to come out of course, I'm sure you had to sign a major confidentiality agreement...but I for one would love to see your work.
And I'm sure everyone's totally jealous that you get to know where the show's going...I know I am…I wish you could set this Zuko fangirl's heart to rest, but I know you can't.
I hope it leads to even bigger and better things for you.
