4/22/2006 - HP fan comic

I've been going along (with a few other crazy peeps) with the making of a Harry Potter fan book. Something simple, no money making, just having fun. Hopefully, if things keep going well, we'll have everything ready this July. I'll also quite probably put all my pages on the web somewhere.

Due to all the work I have to do these days, my pages are going to stay rough and un-inked. Boooo hiss booo on me.

Sometimes I think now a days inking is not needed? I believe that people inked there pages back in the day so that it could print easier on old time printers, but with todays technology and being able to scan in things super dark, even if its pencil, do you think inking is something that doesn't need to be done in todays world? Just a thought, sometimes i think it, something i don't, what do you think?

It depends.
Yes, printing got soo good that even mini comic format (and I mean photocopied material) stays very nice.
Just pencils have some very nice energy. The comic Herobear and the Kid has no inking and keeps all the pencil lines. In the last Skydoll book by Barbucci and Canepa, I noticed the line art is just pencil that got coloured over.
Then I look at the work of Sergio Toppi, and I drool all over his inking.

Pencils by themselves are strong, but inking adds another dimension to the line.
Heck, I like both!

OMG!!
I am such a potter geek, I wish I could participate. I unconsciously make up my own little stories in my head when I'm on the bus or walking home. It's probably not very sane that a girl my age makes up fantasies of magic stuff that are not even from my own brain. But It's sooooo much fun!
Tes dessins sont fantastiques Johanne; ils seraient parfaits pour une bd officielle, si jamais une telle chose se produit.
Je veux savoir c'est quoi qui rend Ron et Harry si contents!!!!:O
