The sad homeless man

Yesterday, we went to get a few groceries at the store. There was this very opiniated older gentleman who started ranting to us how Ontario is much nicer and we Quebeckers don't have a backbone. "En Ontario, on paye ben moins de taxes! On se fait manger la laine sur le dos icitte!"
We had a hard time getting rid of him. I felt bad; he's probably just lonely and picks up human contact where ever he can.
And then as we left, after paying our stuff, there was this really friendly looking homeless man, skinny and dirty but with a gentle smile, that asked for some change. I didn't have my purse and Marc-Andre rummaged through his pockets for some change. He tought he had some but it turned out it was a bunch of guitar picks. So, feeling lame with our groceries and nothing to give a poor hungry man, we left the store. Then Marc-Andre tought about going to a bank machine to take out some cash and give him something. We didn't see one so instead we went to a pharmacy and bought something using interac. That way, Marc-Andre was able to take out some money without paying stupid atm fees.
We were away for 10 minutes at the most. But when we returned to the grocery store, the homeless man was gone. We drove around the parking lot trying to find him but with no luck.
So we went home and had a very bitter-sweet diner.
