Older and aging

All right, most of you know I have issue about becoming older. And since sunday was my birthday, I was less that joyfull to add a candle to my cake. (no that I made one. I'm just saying.)
But this birthday couldn't have been better if I had planned it. Perhaps because I was expecting nothing at all.
So, all week was kind of scary, what with the work and the keeping track of everything that's going on. I felt like some sort of multi-task octopus... And all week, my boyfriend is making a huge deal about friday being a special romatic birthday diner of just us two and not to make any other plans. But as we got to the restaurant, I noticed that a bunch of friends were already there. Such was my surprise that I first tought : "Hey! what a coincidence! A bunch of friends are here. It'd be great if we sit with them." Then I tought : "Wait... are they here for me?" And to my surprise they were. I never saw it coming. Apparently, they did a very poor job at hidding the surprise at work but I was deep in my work that any slip up from them was uneventful to me. So we had a great sushi meal but since my friend knows the owner, they made us a special thing. We each pay an amout of money and the chef goes wild with it. The good thing is it was deliscious. The bad thing is that they were such fancy dishes that we hardly go anything to fill us up. Ah, well...
We then went to a bar and it since it was the first day of spring break, a buch of college kids were in there. I then realised how old I had become. I used to love to go to those crazy party where the music is so loud that you can't hear your friend beside you. This time however, I found the crowd sooooooooooo lame! They were all these loud kids, sweaty and pushy and I almost yelled at some of them. But the wierd part is that they played a bunch of song from when I was in college. Like bloodhound gang stuff and even some ancient red hot chili peppers. Either the DJ is around my age or today's music is even crappier than I tought.

But we ended up having fun none the less, once all the younger kids left to catch the last city bus. I had a terrible wisky sour and we talked about bras. Good Times...
When we got home, my poor sober boyfriend wanted to give me presents, but I crashed on the bed. I opened them the next day. He has to take some pain killers because he has carpel tunnel. Bad Timing. He got me Clone High dvds and the fifth season of The Simpsons. JOY!!

We had to go to a baby shower after that. I love babies and can't wait to see this little guy.
It was full of unknown relatives from each of the parent's families and close friends like us.
I cheated and ate soooo many chips! But it was my birthday so I guess I was allowed.
Later we went for yet some more suchi and this time we got PLENTY!!! It was deliscious!! But when we got back to the car, there was a parking ticket on it. We were gone for barely an hour and it's a non passing street!! and it said you needed a resident sticker to park, ok, but none of the other cars had one. They didn't get tickets, what the hell!?
Well, we were in a good mood and we headded off to the Hurley's pub. Great stuff happening there all the time. The band was really good, but not the best I've seen there. I had lots and lots of cider pints. Marc-Andre had a hard time resisting the luscious Guiness but finally decided that living was more important than beer, so he only drank water. Poor him. I felt bad. We were having a great time and he was only half enjoying the evening...

Geo and I were observing the crowd as if it were a nature show. One guy kept looking at other girls when his girlfriend had her head turned and a bunch of old men kept looking at our boobs. But as humiliating and degrating as it is, we are getting used to it. The worst of it was when I got up to go to the laydies room and a stanger pointed at my cheat and loudly said "YUM YUM!!" Twice! Ad he was no college kid too! He was in his mid 30's!
I was in shock! I gave him a really dirty look but I never know what to say when such things happen. I ran into a stall and did my business. 2 seconds later, Geo enters and tells me "You won't beleve this! Some jerk called me Yum Yum!" So Classy!

As the night was heading on., I was getting really tired and wanted to leave. Then this kid who looked 15 entered. He was all dressed up and looked barely old enough to drive. We couldn't believe he had gotten in. He was a cute kid, but totaly hairless and really tall and awkward. Geo and I couldn't resit! he was a lost little puppy, all alone on a saturday night. He ended up playing some game on his cell. I tought he kind of looked like Ron in the last Harry Potter. Sal couldn't believe we were talking about him like he was a pet. He got up and offered him to join us which he did gladly. It turns out he had lended his ID to an underage friend and had gotten caught by the doorman so was forced to leave and none of his friends fallowed him. He was really 18 but we had to ask him for ID ourselves since he looked so young. His name was Justin and he finished all his sentences with "Respect to that, man!" Of course, we had nothin in common with him, but he was glad to hang out with older kids and we were glad to have a toy to play with. Geo and I were actually considering adoption. "He can sleep on the couch with the other cats!" said Geo. Of course, he was hammered when he left after 2 beers. Ah, kids.... We kept giving him advice about life, as if we were ancient scholars, when we're only a few years older. But we had fun. Again, I collapsed on the bed and next day was Shopping With Mommy day. I got so many new shirts it's not even funny. Then we had sushi AGAIN!!! Can you tell I like it? 'Cause if you can't, I like sushi.
So aging this year was kind of fun. If you forget the fact that I'm officially in my late 20's now.
Back to work!!
