I hate
morons who go to the movies and then can’t shut the hell up. Why is it so
difficult to understand that other people’s enjoyment of the flick might depend
on actually hearing the dialogue instead of inane blabbering? If you want to
sit and make loudmouth comments about a movie to your friends, do it at home!
AT HOME! Your home is your own god damned private space and you should feel
free to make up your own rules there. But at the theatre? SHUT UP!
There is
however an excellent tool that let me enjoy a movie without hearing the stupid
people. Earplugs. The volume at the Cineplex is usually high enough that you
can wear industrial sound dampeners and still hear the actors whisper to each other.
Earplugs filter out the audiences sound and let the dialogue through. Yay! Go
earplugs!
I often warn
my friends when we’re at the movies. Right before the film begins I say “Time
for me to check out! Don’t talk to me. I won’t hear you.” The look at me as if I’m
insane but accept it. Then I shut up and watch the movie.
Today I
watched War of the Worlds. But I forgot my earplugs at home. Damn that movie is
loud. I had to put my hands over my ears at several occasions. It was scary
too. And I committed a sin. At some point during the movie I leaned over to my
left and said something to Victoria. I don’t remember what it was, but
it was probably nothing important. It hardly ever is.
And now I realize
that today I was the idiot who couldn’t keep his mouth shut. Not only did the
earplugs keep the sounds out. They obviously held my brain in as well. I will
never go to the movies without earplugs again. Sorry Victoria for diminishing your movie
experience. Sorry anyone else who sat near me. I hate myself for talking during
the film.
